Police: Driver had 4 ounces of pot, 2 beer bottles and no license

A Rome man accused of having marijuana for sale was in jail Tuesday night with no bond.

According to Floyd County Jail and Rome Police Department records:

Sean Patrick Redwine, 31, of 402 Superba Ave., was driving 67 mph in a 45 mph zone when police stopped him Tuesday on Martha Berry Highway at Veterans Memorial Parkway.

He had four ounces of marijuana with him, along with two marijuana cigarette stubs, one empty Corona bottle and a partially filled bottle of beer.

Redwine, who admitted he had been drinking, is charged with felony possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and the misdemeano­rs speeding, open container and driving without a license.

Stolen Harley taken across state lines

A Rome man was arrested Tuesday on warrants charging him with selling a Harley Davidson motorcycle that had been stolen in Alabama.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Billy John Hammonds, 45, of 101 Crescent Ave. was being held without bail Tuesday night on felony charges of theft by receiving stolen property and theft by bringing stolen property into the state.

The bike was reported stolen in Centre, Alabama, on Feb. 5. Hammonds is accused of selling it to a Silver Creek man for $2,500 on Feb. 6 after falsely promising to deliver the title later.

Report: Burglar took cremains, AC unit

A Silver Creek man accused of stealing cremated remains was in jail Tuesday night pending a $7,900 bond.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Jesse Lee Harris, 25, is accused of breaking into a home on Tom Bing Road on March 25 and stealing cremated remains and a portable air-conditione­r.

He is charged with felony burglary and the misdemeano­rs theft by taking and criminal trespass.

Police: Man killed dog, damaged property

A Rome man accused of shooting a pistol in his Leland Avenue home was being held in jail without bond Tuesday night.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Benjamin David Flores, 31, of 300 Leland Ave., reportedly brandished two firearms and discharged a .45 caliber handgun during a verbal altercatio­n late Monday inside his residence. He then damaged the victim’s property, which included antiques and electronic­s. The value of the damaged property exceeded $1,000. In addition, he knocked holes in the drywall and sliced the drywall in the home.

On April 20, the report stated, Flores intentiona­lly killed the victim’s dog by striking it with a pipe several times.

When officers arrived, Flores came out of the residence “in a very menacing manner” asking them if they wanted to sexually assault him and demanded to be arrested.

Flores is charged with felony aggravated assault

under the Family Violence Act, criminal damage to property under the Family Violence Act, cruelty to animals, terroristi­c threats and acts as well as possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. He is also charged with misdemeano­r reckless conduct and solicitati­on of sodomy.

Robbery reported on Darlington Way

A Darlington Way resident said two men entered her home demanding money after she recently cashed a check at the Hop N Shop, reports stated.

According to Rome police reports:

The woman said she was sitting on her couch around 3:45 p.m. Monday when two black men entered her home through the back door. One of the men reached through an already broken window on her back door to gain entry.

One asked, “Where’s the money?” and then pushed her to the floor. He then put something over her face and asked again, more forcefully. She said her money was in her pocket. They took her money and driver’s license and left.

The men were described as both having dreadlocks and approximat­ely 5 feet 5 inches. One of the men is approximat­ely 200 pounds and the other is approximat­ely 160 pounds.

The woman said she’d cashed a check for $2,500 earlier that day at the Hop N Shop on Calhoun Avenue. She was transporte­d to Floyd Medical Center with complaints of pain in her side as a result of the attack.

Report: Man tried to break in on Wisteria St.

A Silver Creek man is charged with felony criminal attempt to commit burglary for allegedly attempting to break into a Wisteria Street home early Tuesday to “get something to eat,” reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports;

Christophe­r Brian Dudley, 33, of 9 Grayfield Drive, is charged with felony criminal attempt to commit burglary and misdemeano­r criminal trespass. He is also charged with parole violation.

He was being held without bond Tuesday night.

Floyd man charged with theft by deception

A Floyd County man is accused of obtaining money through “deceitful” means, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Delmar Ramal Watkins, 49, of 392 Moran Lake Road, is charged with felony theft by deception and was arrested early Tuesday morning near Braves Boulevard.

He was being held on a $1,300 bond Tuesday.

Man charged with aggravated assault

A Rome man is charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeano­r reckless conduct, reports stated.

Jared Barnard Jett Jr., 24, of 330 Tolbert St., was arrested at his home around 11:45 p.m. Monday.

He was being held without bond Tuesday.
