Bessie White Colston, 105, of Rome, died May 2, 2017. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the arrangemen­ts. Judge Roosevelt Watkins Jr., 62, of Rome, died May 1, 2017. Wright Memorial Mortuary has charge of the arrangemen­ts.

Bessie White Colston Mrs. Bessie White Colston, age 105, of Rome, passed away Tuesday evening, May 2, 2017, in a local health care facility.

Mrs. Colston was born in Bartow County on October 4, 1911, but moved to Floyd County at an early age. A member of a pioneer family, she was the daughter of the late M. Jackson White and the late Blanche Satcher White.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lee “C. L.” Colston, by four sisters, Bertie Worthy, Fannie Colston, Evie White, and Jennie White, and by two brothers, Robert and Jimmy White.

Mrs. Colston was a homemaker and was the oldest current member of Flint Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, James Colston, and his wife, Emily, Rome; two grandsons, Jake Colston, and his wife, Tiffani, Rome, and Rev. Adam Colston, and his wife, Crystal, Lindale; two great grandchild­ren, Jackson Colston, Rome, and Mabry Colston, Lindale; nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Don Spears and the Rev. Adam Colston officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Wax Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Friday from 2 p.m. until the service hour. At other times, they may be contacted at their respective homes.

Pallbearer­s will include her grandsons, Jake and Adam Colston, Randy Hitchcock, and Tim Groves.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the funeral arrangemen­ts.

Judge Roosevelt Watkins Jr.

Mr. Judge Watkins, Jr. was born in Rome, Georgia on July 22, 1954. He was a graduate of Pepperell High School and Coosa Valley Technical College.

Mr. Judge Roosevelt Watkins, Jr. passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017. He was preceded in death by his father, Judge Watkins, Sr.; a sister, Ms. Lila Jean Watkins; and two brothers, Mr. Cornelius Watkins and Mr. Ervin Watkins, Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Donna D. Watkins; three children, Tamara (Billy) Roper, LaKisha (Artemas) Slaughter, and Judge Watkins III; his mother, Ms. Mattie L. Watkins; two brothers, Curtis (Toni) Watkins and Stanley (Theresa) Watkins, Sr.; three sisters, Sarah Rogers, Teresa (Walter) Harrell, Melissa (Curt) Watkins; one brother-in-law, Herman D. (Celesta) Scott; three sisters-in-law, Arlyn Rimes, Judy Morgan, and Claudia (Calvin) Freeman. A host of grandchild­ren, other relatives, and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Judge Watkins, Jr. will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Metropolit­an United Methodist Church.

The Wake will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
