It’s over for another year and that’s not long enough

-

The NFL — No Fun League, aka National Football League — completed its annual Joke Upon America last week when mercifully the NFL draft came to a halt after three exhausting and tedious days. After seemingly several thousand names you had never heard of were “chosen” or survived the three-day ordeal, it was over. May God never inflict this upon us ever again.

The NFL, in an attempt to keep its product before the public during the offseason, concocted this dreary mess and America, in its blind love of professional football, has accepted it as something important. If it’s so important why must the network announcers work so hard to manufacture drama?

You know when the traded up from the 31st pick to the 26th, and that was hailed as news, things are bad. On top of that, that they chose Takkarist McKinley,a linebacker from UCLA that few people knew, added to the ridiculousness. This year’s Mr. Irrelevant,a name given to the 253rd and last player taken in the draft, was actually a name that most folks around here know — Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly. And for seemingly everyone’s favorite quarterback, Deshaun Watson, to go to the Houston Texans and coach Bill O’Brien was more surprising than shocking. But the important thing to realize is that it’s all over for another year.

On top of everything else, besides being boring, the NFL drafted six different players who have been charged or convicted of domestic abuse or sexual violence. They simply don’t care.

In the meantime, the playoffs started NORMAN AREY and the professional basketball league is at least as big a joke as the NFL. Seriously, how many teams can win the NBA title? Usually it’s going to be one of maybe three, and that kind of takes the mystery out of it right away.

This year it’s gonna be wherever LeBron James plays (Cleveland), Golden State and an outside chance for maybe a San Antonio. That’s it. And the poor Atlanta Hawks have already been eliminated by the Washington Wizards. This is a team that won 60 games only two seasons ago before the core of the team was traded away.

The Hawks are a mess now, and they’ve almost always been a mess. They usually make the playoffs, lose in the first or second round, and then are stuck with a draft pick of somewhere between 15-20. LeBron James
