84, of Silver Creek, died May 5, 2017. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the arrangemen­ts.

Patrick H.J. Hall, age 91, of Manheim, Pa., passed peacefully in his sleep on Friday, May 5, 2017, at Lebanon V.A. Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Genevieve Segro Hall for 45 years before her passing in March, 2000.

Born in the Strasburg/ Nickel Mines area, he was one of eight children of the late Harry H. and Mabel Bodge Hall. A 1943 graduate of E. Lampeter Twp. High School, Patrick worked at Armstrong Cork Company prior to entering the U.S. Army in November, 1943 during World War II. After basic training at Camp Croft, S.C., he served in the European Theater 30 days after D-Day with the 9th Division, 60th Infantry.

In addition to the Purple Heart Medal, Patrick also received the EAME Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, Victory Medal, WWII Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Bronze Star Medal.

Returning back to the states on December 27, 1945 to recuperate in Rome, Georgia, for a period of time, he was honorably discharged from Camp Upton, NY in May, 1946.

He was employed for 27 years as a monotype press operator at Lancaster Press and after retiring from there worked for 10 years for the U.S Postal Service.

Patrick was a life member of Masonic Lodges #764 and #43 F&AM; Tall Cedars of Lebanon; 32nd degree Reading Consistory; American Legion Post #34 for 25 years and B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #134 for 25 years. He was also a long time and devoted member of Church of the Apostles, United Church of Christ in Lancaster.

Surviving are a daughter, Denise H., wife of Donald H. Clardy and their children Carly and Garrett of Manheim, Pa. with whom he lived for the past nine years; a son, Galen P., husband of ColynMarie Hall of Norristown, Pa.; seven grandchild­ren; six great-grandchild­ren; a sister, Edna Schaeffer of Lancaster, along with a dear friend, Ree Owens from Rome, Ga.

He was predecease­d by his siblings: Harriet Bender, Bertha Hall, Annie Keane, Minney May, Robert Hall and Lewis Hall.

The family wishes to express a special note of gratitude to Patrick’s loved ones and friends in Rome, Georgia. He never forgot them and their hospitalit­y.

Relatives and friends are respectful­ly invited to attend a funeral service in the Church of the Apostles U.C.C., 1850 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603 on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kathryn Kuhn officiatin­g. The family will greet friends at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Interment will follow at Strasburg Mennonite Church with military honors.

Kermit Boone Felker

Kermit (Kert) Boone Felker, age 89, of Rome, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 4, 2017.

Mr. Felker was born July 15, 1927 in Hapeville, Ga. He was the son of the late Frederick Boone Felker and Jessie Coogler Felker. After graduating from Boys High in Atlanta, he joined the Navy at age 17 near the end of WWII, and served in the Pacific Naval Air Transport until 1946. As a member of Sigma Pi fraternity, he graduated from the University of GA with a major in Forest Management. He was the wood receiving supervisor at the Georgia Kraft Company in Rome from 1959-78. He worked as an insurance salesman from 1979 until his retirement.

He joined Hapeville Presbyteri­an Church and has continued to be active in the Westminste­r Presbyteri­an Church in Rome throughout his life, having served as an Elder, Sunday School Superinten­dent, and S.S. teacher.

He was President of the Floyd County Lion’s Club and also appointed as Deputy District Governor of Lions Internatio­nal. He also served as President for the West Rome High School “Chieftains Club” in 1966. He enjoyed golf, playing until just a few months ago.

He married Lena Margaret Clark in Gainesvill­e, Ga. on Dec. 16, 1951. During retirement, they enjoyed camping in a motor home and traveling the country. He was a kind, good-hearted man who loved his family.

He was also preceded in death by his wife Margaret, daughter Peggy, and brother Joe. He is survived by his son Frank (and wife Pam), of Cumming, Ga., his son Rev. Steve Felker (and wife Cheryl) of Colonial Heights, Va., seven grandchild­ren and spouses (Matthew, Michael, Mitchell, Andrew, and David Felker; Heather and Christophe­r Maschke), five great-grandchild­ren and three nephews and one niece.

One of the last things he was able to say before he died was, “I want to go home.” He is now in his heavenly home with his Savior, and loved ones who have preceded him there.

The funeral for Mr. Felker will be held Monday, May 8, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Thomas B. Griffin Chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Greg Lund officiatin­g. The family will receive friends at Daniel’s one hour prior to the service. The graveside service will follow at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens in West Rome. In lieu of flowers the family respectful­ly requests memorial contributi­ons to be made to Westminste­r Presbyteri­an Church, 1941 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga., 30165.

The American Legion Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 Honor Guard will render military rites.

Thelma Wallace McEver

Mrs. Thelma Wallace McEver, age 85, lifelong resident of Cave Spring, died Friday morning, May 5, 2017, in a Rome care center following an extended illness.

Mrs. McEver was born in Cave Spring May 7, 1931, a daughter of the late James Irvin Wallace, Sr., and the late Cora Lee Blankenshi­p Wallace, and was a 1948 graduate of the Cave Spring High School.

She was married to James Howard McEver on May 16, 1948, and was preceded in death by him on December 9, 1990. Mrs. McEver was a member of the South Broad United Methodist Church and was former member of the Vann’s Valley United Methodist SOUTH CHAPEL

Mr. Richard Harold Maxwell, age 78, of Silver Creek, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017, in a local hospital.

He was born in Polk County on April 8, 1939, son of the late Edgar Harold Maxwell and the late Mammie Lou Phillips Maxwell. He was a graduate of Pepperell High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Maxwell had been employed by Defender Industries for several years and later was employed with Evans Constructi­on Company.

He was a very loving husband, father, and grandfathe­r. He was very active and had accomplish­ed all that he had desired in his life. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Ritchey Maxwell, and by two brothers, Donald and Denny Maxwell.

Survivors include his wife, the former Vickie Marlene Brock, to whom he was married on July 3, 1986; a daughter, Suzanne Croom (Mark), Trion; two step-children, Shelli Edwards, Adairsvill­e and Keelan Freeman (Bobbi), Kingston; a sister, Linda Shumaker (Terry), Chattanoog­a, Tenn.; two brothers, Charles Maxwell, Cumming, and Wayne Maxwell, Lindale; five grandchild­ren, Lauren Williams, Chesley and Chansea Edwards, Kaylan and Kaeden Freeman; a great grandson, Aidan Williams; several nieces and nephews also survive.

A celebratio­n of life gathering with friends and family will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that memorial contributi­ons be made to the Rome-Floyd Humane Society, 518 Broad Street, Rome, Ga., 30161
