NARFE’s Duke Borchardt receives service award

-

At the recent Federation Meeting of National Active and Retired Federal Employees held in Warner Robbins, Duke Borchardt of Rome Northwest Georgia Chapter 0545 was recipient of M.C. Stowe Chapter Member of the Year Award for his outstanding service.

He serves as chapter service officer, newsletter editor and publisher and Alzheimer’s chair.

Although retired, Borchardt has been a long-time Federal Civil Service Labor Relations Specialist and trainer of new Labor Relations Specialists across the country, and he still keeps busy reviewing labor contract negotiations language for selected organizations and reviewing negotiated contracts before signing by the agency head.

He reviews difficult applications for civil service retirement if asked to do so by various entities or individual applicants. All of this is done pro bono.

He travels to other states as a hearing examiner to hear cases of removal from employment or suspension from employment of federal civil service employees resulting in a binding recommendation to the agency head.

As a state Supreme Court trained arbitrator, he can be called on to serve as an arbitrator in certain civil cases assigned by the courts.
