Bishop to join The Avenue
The new group recruits the longtime local adviser to open a Rome office.
Longtime Rome investment adviser John Bishop has left SunTrust Investments after 25 years to open a Rome office for The Avenue Wealth Management Group.
The Rome office becomes the third in Georgia for The Avenue. The other two Georgia offices are in Athens and Macon.
The Avenue Wealth Management Group is not a registered broker/dealer, and offers services through Raymond James Bank, independent of Raymond James Financial Services. Bishop’s new office is at 304 E. Second Ave., Suite B. That’s just two blocks down from where Bishop worked for a total of 30 years. “I also changed my phone number by just one digit, to 706-2344325,” Bishop said.
“My main objective was to affiliate myself with a brokerage firm that’s main focus is a client-first approach. My clients are very important to me,” Bishop said. “Giving great customer service to clients is very important to me so I wanted to make sure I aligned myself with a firm that really put its focus of excellent client service.”
Bishop said he looks forward to continuing the personal relationship he has established with Rome and Floyd County clients over the past two and a half decades.
The Avenue Wealth Management Group now has more than $1 billion dollars in assets under management.
Bishop explained the difference between The Avenue Wealth management Group and Raymond James boils down to the individual adviser’s style. “I think a lot of what you do when you look at different firms is you look at how (the individual adviser) approaches portfolio construction, portfolio management, their level of research and what they have to offer their clients,” Bishop said.
