Girl, 3, drowns in home pool

—A 3-year-old girl drowned early Saturday in an inground swimming pool at her home in Cartersvil­le, Bartow County Coroner Joel Guyton said.

He said the girl was found in the pool by her father. Guyton could not estimate how long the little girl had been in the water before she was found.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone born from 1945-1965 get tested for hepatitis C at least once because baby boomers are five times more likely to have the disease than other adults. Boomers grew up and became young adults before the virus was identified in 1989, and many were infected through medical procedures and transfusio­ns before improved infection-control techniques and blood screening nearly eliminated those risks.
