What is the primary purpose of your business?
Furniture Medic by Elite Repair and Restoration Group provides affordable alternatives to replacement of furnishing and fixtures. We specialize in wood and furniture repair for antiques, millwork, paneling, banisters, cabinetry, mantels, and hardwood floors. Other services include cabinet refacing, furniture structural repair and stabilization, precision repair of wood surfaces, color blending and image enhancement, as well as furniture refinishing and polishing.
What is the business background of the owners?
Larry and Barry Alford have been residents of Rome all of their lives. They purchased their first business more than twenty years ago in Rome, and currently have 14 businesses including Rome Cleaners, Emergency Drycleaning Restoration, and 10 locations of ServiceMaster. Their overall business focus is all aspects of restoration, so the decision to acquire Furniture Medic by Elite Repair and Restoration Group was a natural one.
Why did they purchase this particular business?
The Alfords purchased the business to add more quality service to ServiceMaster, Rome Cleaners, ServeMaster Home Services Plumbing, and Emergency Drycleaning Restoration. The purchase has been complementary, as we can help restore not only your home, but also your belongings.

What do you enjoy most about your chosen profession?
There is an indescribable sense of pride and accomplishment that comes in saving someone’s family heirloom piece. It’s an amazing
feeling to be able to see the look on a customer’s face after he or she is just wowed by our restoration processes. The personal touch our business has to offer customers is definitely at the top of the list of what makes Furniture Medic by Elite Repair and Restoration Group so special.
What has been the biggest or most interesting challenge to overcome as a small business owner?
