State prison inmate accused of hiding drugs in his peanut butter
A Lawrenceville man serving time in state prison was in the Floyd County Jail without bond Wednesday on accusations he had drugs in his cell.
According to jail and Georgia Department of Corrections records:
Thanh Tung Vu, 26, of 4339 Annlette Drive in Lawrenceville, was arrested Wednesday at Washington State Prison on felony warrants charging him with possession of a controlled substance and possession of items prohibited for inmates.
Vu was previously held at the Floyd County Prison, but a Feb. 16 search of his cell turned up 68 “units of marijuana” wrapped in plastic and hidden in his container of peanut butter.
He was convicted last year in Gwinnett County on gun and drug charges and sentenced to five years in prison.
Report: Man jailed after refusing to pay roofing bill
A Rome man accused of deliberately not paying for contracted roof repairs was in jail Wednesday night on felony theft of service charges. According to Floyd County Jail records: Thomas Wayne Holt, 60, of 510 Avenue A, was arrested in Magistrate Court on Wednesday
after failing to appear for an initial court date of May 24.
Holt is accused of — “with deception” — having Midian Roofing repair his roof and then refusing to pay the $3,092.90 bill. He was being held in jail pending the posting of a $10,000 cash bond.
Rome woman facing methamphetamine charges
A Rome woman facing drug charges was in jail Wednesday night with no bond set. According to Floyd County Jail records: Heather Ann Thompson, 44, of 9A E. 15th St., is charged with felony possession of methamphetamine.
She was arrested Wednesday morning by the Rome-Floyd Metro Task after a quantity of meth was found in an F-150 pickup that she “has equal access to.”
Man reports theft of tools
Rome police are investigating the theft of more than $3,000 worth of equipment stolen from a company tool trailer parked at a home on Atteiram Drive.
According to Rome Police Department reports:
An employee of Tod Southern Co. reported Wednesday that someone broke into the trailer sometime Tuesday and took a $2,000 Transit laser leveler, a $150 cordless drill set, a $150 jam saw, a $200 framing nailer, a $150 finish nailer, a $150 circular saw and a $300 band saw.

2 arrested on meth charges after running stop sign in West Rome
Two men were arrested on methamphetamine charges after one ran a stop sign near Watson Drive. According to Floyd County Jail reports: Andrew Leon Busby, Sr., 34, and Randall Duane Brock, Jr., 38, of 30 Watson Drive, are each charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

on Watson Drive around 2:48 p.m. Tuesday. They found an amount of methamphetamine “greater than for personal use” as well as a glass pipe, syringe and packing materials. Busby is additionally charged with misdemeanor driving with a suspended license, possession of drug-related objects and a stop sign violation. His bond was set Wednesday at $16,700.
Brock is also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug-related objects and obstruction of law enforcement officers. He was being held without bond for Bartow County on unspeci-fied charges.
Report: Summerville man fled, struggled with police
A 33-year-old Summerville man was in jail without bond Wednesday after he reportedly fled from police and fought his arrest near Dugger Drive.
According to Floyd County Jail reports: Joshua Little Cochran, of 373 Dry Creek Road, is charged with five counts of felony obstruction of an officer a two counts of felony interference with government property. He also faces misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass, a safety violation and contempt of Superior Court in a child support case.
Cochran fled from Floyd County police Tuesday evening near the intersection of Old Dalton Road and Redfern Trail. Officers caught up with him near Dugger Drive after chasing him through the woods. At least one officer reported damage to his uniform pants from the chase.
He also is being held for Whitfield County on unspecified charges.
Warrant: Woman stole vehicle from elderly man
A Lindale woman remained in jail Wednesday pending $7,900 bond on charges that she stole a 2009 Kia Sorento from an 82-year-old man. According to Floyd County Jail reports: Tiffany Deanna Bruce, 38, of 15 N. Terrace Ave., is charged with felony exploitation of an elder person and theft by taking.
Bruce reportedly took the car on April 10 and “inflicted mental anguish by leaving the victim without his vehicle and mode of transportation.”
Police: Man gave ride to fugitive
A Lindale man who gave a ride to a person he knew had an active felony warrant was in jail without bond on Wednesday, reports stated. According to Floyd County Jail reports: Chance Dewayne Reed, 39, of 1 Avenue E, is charged with felony hindering the apprehension or punishment of a criminal. He gave a ride to Micah Bradley Proctor, who fled from police on Saturday and was arrested Tuesday on methamphetamine possession and escape charges.
Reed also is charged with a parole violation.
Report: Lindale man took tools in Teat Street burglary
A Lindale man was arrested on warrants stating he broke into a home on May 3 on Teat Street and stole tools and other items. According to Floyd County Jail reports: Christopher Leigh Astin, 32, of 301 Walnut Ave., is charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor theft by taking.
He was released from jail Wednesday on a $7,900 bond.
Man charged with meth possession, driving on a suspended license
Police say a Rome man was driving around in a blue Buick on a suspended license when they found methamphetamine in his pants pocket. According to Floyd County Jail reports:
Rome police charged Dustin Ryan Hilyer, 30, of 400 McDonald St., with felony possession of methamphetamine as well as misdemeanor driving with a suspended license and possession and use of drug-related objects.
Police found the small bag of meth as well as needles on Hilyer when he was stopped Tuesday night.
He remained in jail Wednesday without bond.
Report: Probationer picked up on felony drug charges
A Floyd County sheriff’s deputy arrested a probationer on drug charges at his Ashley Oak Trail home, reports stated. According to Floyd County Jail reports: Micah Nevin Dempsey, 27, of 35 Ashley Oaks Trail, is charged with felony possession of meth and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
He is also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug-related objects.
Dempsey remained in jail Wednesday without bond on a probation hold.
