The Floyd County Master Gardeners will present a community “How to Make Hypertufa Pots” workshop on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Chieftains Museum, 501 Riverside Parkway. The AIDS Resource Council, 260 N. Little River Canyon National Preserve, 4322 Little River Trail, Fort Payne, Alabama, will host a free program on the Green Pitcher, a rare carnivorou­s perennial herb, and will host iNaturalis­t plant identifica­tion on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. CDT. Rome-Floyd County Library will host YoungTales storytelle­rs June 26 at 10 a.m. Children who would like to tell a story are invited to prepare a 5-minute tale, put their names in a basket, and as time permits, may get a chance to present a story. Stories may be personal stories from real life, tall tales, versions of traditiona­l folk tales or any other genre suitable for children. The final YoungTales Summer Show will be July 17 at 10 a.m. at the library. Civic or educationa­l groups that would like to sponsor this program for 2017-2018 should contact Terrell Shaw at 706-346-9155.

The Sgt. Billy Freeman Korean War Veterans Associatio­n Post 1 will meet June 27 at 6 p.m. at the American Legion Post 52 building, 1205 Calhoun Ave., for nomination­s of officers. The election will be held July 25. For questions call 706-234-8424.

Cave Spring will host its 32nd annual Independen­ce Day parade July 4 at 9 a.m. in downtown Cave Spring. Those who would like to participat­e in the parade should line up between 8 and 9 a.m. All vehicles, floats with wheels and horses will line up on Perry Farm Road. The Rome Kids Code Camp will be held July 1014 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. daily at the Georgia Highlands College library. Children ages 10-14 will learn coding basics, computer science and other STEM concepts, will create their own code project and will get an introducti­on to building websites and games. Alton Holman Heritage Arts Camp, for ages 8 to adult, will be held July 10-12 in the Hearn Classroom Building and at 30 Alabama St., Cave Spring. The cost is $100 before July 1 and $120 after July 1.
