Rome falls to Asheville, 7-1

How it happened: After Rome scored a run in the first inning, Asheville responded with three runs in the bottom of the first and didn’t look back. The Braves took the lead on Austin Bush’s RBI double, but Asheville struck back with a home run from Manuel Melendez and a two-run double from Brian Serven. The Tourists added another run off two doubles in the third, then three singles and a wild pitch scored three more runs in the seventh.

Who did what for Rome: Bush, playing in his first game since being drafted by the Braves, recorded the RBI double in the first as his only hit. Marcus Mooney, Cristian Pache and Lucas Herbert each recorded two hits, with Mooney scoring Rome’s only run of the night.

On the mound: Alan Rangel made his third start for Rome, going three innings with four earned runs allowed and five strikeouts. Bladimir Matos threw two scoreless innings before Tucker Davidson allowed four hits and three runs in his three innings of work.

Next Game: The Braves and Tourists play the second of a four-game series in Asheville tonight with the first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
