Woman hits deputy with car while fleeing
The 25-year-old is facing aggravated assault charges that began with a shoplifting incident.
CARTERSVILLE — A 25-year-old Cartersville woman faces several felony aggravated assault charges after striking a Bartow County Sheriff’s deputy and other cars while fleeing from a shoplifting arrest.
According to Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap:
Deputies responded to the Ingles Supermarket on Joe Frank Harris Parkway in Cartersville at about 1:23 p.m. Tuesday to a reported shoplifting in progress.
When they arrived, Olivia Ann Hayes, 25, of Cartersville, was getting into the driver’s seat of a Honda Accord in the parking lot. Deputies attempted to speak with Hayes but she got into her car. She backed up quickly and struck one deputy in the leg, Millsap stated in a press release.
She then drove forward and struck two cars — one of which had a toddler inside with a woman loading groceries in the trunk. She then drove the wrong way on Felton road and struck a deputy’s car head on. Hayes fled to the Crown Inn on Tennessee Street and ran into her room where she was arrested.
Hayes is charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, two counts of aggravated assault, hit and run, fleeing and attempting to elude officers, probation violation, shoplifting, driving while unlicensed, and making an illegal left turn.
The deputy that was struck in the leg is OK, Millsap stated. No other injuries were reported. From the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office.
FBI, police searching for female serial bank robber
MARIETTA — The FBI and the police departments for Marietta and Sandy Springs are asking for the public’s help in identifying and finding a woman they say robbed two local banks.

The woman left without further incident after receiving an undisclosed amount of money.
Ten days later, a PNC Bank on Roswell Street in Sandy Springs, about a quarter mile south from I-285, was robbed, according to the FBI. At about 4:25 p.m. on June 26, a lone black woman entered the bank, again gave a teller a demand note and left with an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect for both robberies is described as a black woman, 25 to 35 years old, with a slender to medium build.
