Third Street Ministries will distribute free clothing to the homeless and low-income residents on Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and July 11 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the parking lot between Second Street and Third Street. The parking lot is behind Good Neighbor Ministries on Second Street, across from the bus station.

will host a free Independen­ce Day Festival with arts and crafts vendors Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on South First Street in Lindale. A community rock hunt will take place during the festival. Parking is available at Gilbreath Recreation Center, 106 Garden Ave. Parade lineup will be at 9:30 a.m. at Pepperell Primary with parade at 10 a.m.

Summervill­e Main Street

will host an Independen­ce Day celebratio­n on Saturday from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Activities include a picnic, fried apple pie contest, patriotic balloon release and the arrival of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum Passenger Train. The City

of Summervill­e will continue the celebratio­n at the Chattooga County Agricultur­al Center at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Activities include free water slides, free sliced watermelon, sack race, concerts, corn hole tournament and fireworks. Attendees can access the festival at the entrance of Summervill­e Middle School, 34 Middle School Road, Summervill­e. Cave Spring will host its 32nd annual Independen­ce

Day parade July 4 at 9 a.m. in downtown Cave Spring. Those who would like to participat­e in the parade should line up between 8 and 9 a.m. All vehicles, floats with wheels and horses will line up on Perry Farm Road. All who wish to walk in the parade should assemble at Joe Hill’s Lawn Mower Shop at the old depot building on Alabama Street. Cave Spring United Methodist Church will be selling homemade ice cream. The Model Ruritan Club will hold its annual Barbecue and Brunswick stew sale on July 4 at the Shannon

Scout Hut, 40 Minshew Road, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Eat in or take it home. Barbecue will cost $7 for a plate or $3 for a sandwich. Brunswick stew will cost $28 per gallon, $8 per quart or $5 per pint.

The Rotary Club of Rome will host Logan Boss of the Floyd County Health Department for a program about the Zika virus on July 6 at noon at Coosa Country Club, 110 Branham Ave.

All Floyd County remote sites will be closed July 4. Normal operating hours will resume July 5.

The Rome Kids Code Camp will be held July 1014 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. daily at the Georgia Highlands College library, 3175 Cedartown Highway. Children ages 10-14 will learn coding basics, computer science and other STEM concepts, will create their own code project and will get an introducti­on to building websites and games. Alton Holman Heritage

Arts Camp, for ages 8 to adult, will be held July 10-12 in the Hearn Classroom Building. Students may choose two workshops from broom making, leather craft, egg batik and woodworkin­g with hand tools, or one workshop in chair caning. The cost is $100 before Saturday and $120 after. Chair caning costs $60 plus materials. Chair-caning students provide their own chair and need to call ahead so cane can be ordered by size. Call 706-936-0411.
