Report: Man had drugs on US 411

An Atlanta-area man was taken into custody by police to face multiple drug charges just before midnight Monday night at a location on U.S. 411.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

William Frank Wynn, 33, of 3222 Lavista St., Decatur, was arrested by Rome police at 825 Cartersvil­le Highway with one bag of marijuana, two bags of methamphet­amine and two bags of cocaine.

He was charged with felony possession of methamphet­amine with the intent to distribute, felony possession of methamphet­amine, felony possession of cocaine and misdemeano­rs for possession of drug-related objects and possession of marijuana.

Wynn was released from jail Tuesday on $16,700 bond.

Bartow man charged with cocaine, pipe

Rome police arrested a Bartow County man early Tuesday morning for possession of drugs after running from police in the 800 block of Martha Berry Highway

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

David Joseph Matthews, 33, of Clearview Drive, Cartersvil­le, was arrested by Rome Police who were responding to a call about a prowler around 12:20 Tuesday morning. He allegedly tried to throw away a crack pipe with cocaine in it during the brief chase. After getting to the jail, officers found a small bag with suspected cocaine on Matthews.

He was charged with felony possession of cocaine, felony crossing a guard line with the cocaine and misdemeano­rs for possession of drug related objects, obstructio­n of officers and loitering or prowling.

Mathews was being held in the Floyd County jail Tuesday night pending a $10,100 bond.

Floyd police arrest 2 on drug charges

Floyd County police arrested a Rome man and Calhoun man on felony drug charges shortly after 10 a.m. Tuesday on Wilshire Road.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Robert Brandon Headrick, 31 of 54 Glenwood School Road, Armuchee, and Freddie Dewey Sutton, 51, of 330 Carpenter Road, Calhoun, were arrested after a traffic stop for a cracked windshield on the vehicle Sutton was driving.

Police recovered meth, marijuana, plastic bags and a digital scale from the vehicle.

Both Sutton and Headrick were charged with felony possession of methamphet­amine with the intent to distribute, felony possession of meth and misdemeano­rs for possession of marijuana and drug-related objects.

Sutton was also charged with a felony probation violation and the cracked windshield.

Both men were being held in the Floyd County jail without bond late Tuesday night.

Disturbanc­e at medical office leads to arrest

A Rome man was arrested between 9 and 9:30 Tuesday morning on charges of causing a disturbanc­e in a local medical office building, then running from police.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

James Mitchell Couzzourt, 46, of 344 Fred Kelly Road, was charged with felony interferen­ce with government property and misdemeano­rs for loitering or prowling and obstructio­n of officers.

Police were called to 15 Riverbend Drive just after 9 a.m. when Couzzourt was found at the building without justifiabl­e reason, causing concern on the part of other patients.

The interferen­ce with government property count resulted when Couzzourt fled into the Etowah River, damaging a police stun gun.

Couzzourt was being held without bond Tuesday night.

Rome man facing felony firearms charge

A Rome man was jailed for allegedly possessing a firearm at a location on Elmwood Street earlier this month.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Edward Guy Paintin II, 44, of 21 Elmwood St., was transferre­d from the Polk County Jail to the Floyd County Jail to face charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The warrant for Paintin’s arrest alleges he had been convicted of aggravated assault and drug charges back in 1996. He supposedly had an unspecifie­d firearm at his home June 12.

Paintin was released from jail Tuesday on $3,500 bond.

Floyd man charged with taking auto parts

A Floyd County man was jailed Monday after he was arrested on a theft warrant for an incident that allegedly occurred earlier this year.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Stanley Edward Stephens, 66 of 11 Craton Road, Silver Creek, was arrested by deputies and charged with felony theft by taking parts from a vehicle.

The warrant alleges that Stephens took engine parts and diesel fuel from a Freightlin­er truck on Rockmart Highway between January and May.

The total loss was estimated at $1,850.

Stephens was released from jail Tuesday after posting a $3,500 bond,
