Lindale Independence Day Parade takes place Saturday
Restoration Lindale, Inc. will host a “Lindale Independence Day Celebration” on Saturday.
The celebration will feature the Independence Day Parade as well as an arts and crafts festival located along South First Street.
Admission into the parade is free and organizers are encouraging all area businesses, churches, and locals to participate, asking only that participating floats, vehicles and walkers be decorated or dressed in an American theme.
The parade will line up at Pepperell Primary School at 9:30 a.m. and will begin moving at 10 a.m. It will end at the First Baptist Church of Lindale.
The parade’s Grand Marshal will be Sara Heath. Heath was a former teacher at Pepperell from 1956-1986. She’ll take a place of honor in the parade and wave to the crowd from the old Lindale firetruck.
There will be an arts and crafts festival along South First Street from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with parking at Gilbreath Park. Restoration Lindale, Inc. is looking for vendors to set up for the event. Those interested in having a booth in the festival can call Misty Golden at 706-844-2231. All booth spaces are free.
Donations will be accepted to Restoration Lindale, Inc. to further these events, and future restoration projects. Vendors may begin setting up along South First Street at 8:15 a.m.
The festival along South First Street will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. South First in Lindale will be closed to traffic on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
There are also plans for a community rock hunt during the festival. Those wishing to participate by painting rocks are asked to call Misty Golden at 706844-2231.
