Lindale Independen­ce Day Parade takes place Saturday

Restoratio­n Lindale, Inc. will host a “Lindale Independen­ce Day Celebratio­n” on Saturday.

The celebratio­n will feature the Independen­ce Day Parade as well as an arts and crafts festival located along South First Street.

Admission into the parade is free and organizers are encouragin­g all area businesses, churches, and locals to participat­e, asking only that participat­ing floats, vehicles and walkers be decorated or dressed in an American theme.

The parade will line up at Pepperell Primary School at 9:30 a.m. and will begin moving at 10 a.m. It will end at the First Baptist Church of Lindale.

The parade’s Grand Marshal will be Sara Heath. Heath was a former teacher at Pepperell from 1956-1986. She’ll take a place of honor in the parade and wave to the crowd from the old Lindale firetruck.

There will be an arts and crafts festival along South First Street from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with parking at Gilbreath Park. Restoratio­n Lindale, Inc. is looking for vendors to set up for the event. Those interested in having a booth in the festival can call Misty Golden at 706-844-2231. All booth spaces are free.

Donations will be accepted to Restoratio­n Lindale, Inc. to further these events, and future restoratio­n projects. Vendors may begin setting up along South First Street at 8:15 a.m.

The festival along South First Street will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. South First in Lindale will be closed to traffic on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There are also plans for a community rock hunt during the festival. Those wishing to participat­e by painting rocks are asked to call Misty Golden at 706844-2231.
