Report: Woman found asleep in car with heroin, 8 different prescripti­on drugs

Rome police arrested a Polk County resident on Riverside Parkway on Friday after the woman was asleep in her car in the parking lot at the RiverWalk shopping center.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Sheena Ann Kalchthale­r, 29, of 123 Thornton Ave., Cedartown, was found in what appeared to be an intoxicate­d state in the parking lot at 315 Riverside Parkway shortly after 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Police said the woman was asleep with her engine running. During an inventory of the vehicle, officers recovered quantities of eight different prescripti­on drugs. A search of her purse recovered a small bag of suspected heroin and several bags with suspected heroin residue and several used needles.

Kalchthale­r was charged with felony possession of heroin and a misdemeano­r for driving under the influence of drugs and was detained in the Floyd County Jail on Friday night without bond.

Truck driver in fatal wreck facing additional charge

Jesse Adam Ridgeway, 36, of Muscadine, Alabama, who was arrested late Monday night following a wreck that claimed the life of a Cedartown man, now faces a driving under the influence of drugs charge.

William Chad Lance, 49, of Cedartown was killed after his passenger car was sideswiped by the dump truck Ridgeway was driving on Ga. 140, just west of its intersecti­on with U.S. 27 just before 5 p.m. Monday.

According to Georgia State Trooper Jeremy Battle, the DUI charge was added following an interview with Ridgeway at the Floyd County Jail on Thursday.

Battle said the informatio­n obtained from Ridgeway was probable cause for the additional charge however the trooper declined to specify the type of drugs pending final results of blood tests.

Ridgway was also charged with homicide by vehicle, driving on the wrong side of the road, driving on suspended license, operating a vehicle with an expired tag, reckless driving and texting while operating a vehicle.

He is also being held on a Polk County warrant for child neglect.

Rome teenager is charged with aggravated assault

A young Rome man was jailed late Friday night after his arrest at a location in West Rome.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Tyrance Jamarr Diamond, 18, of 14 N. Blanche Ave., was arrested in the 700 block of Excelsior Street

after he choked a young female, causing serious injuries.

Diamond was charged with felony aggravated assault and a misdemeano­r cruelty to children count for allowing a younger male to witness the attack.

Diamond was being held in the Floyd County Jail on Friday night without bond.

Alabama woman arrested on fugitive charge

A Floyd County sheriff’s deputy arrested a woman in Rome on Friday after learning that she was wanted in Alabama.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Amythest Gail Pitts, 31, of 2890 Gurley Pike, Gurley, Alabama, was served with the fugitive papers at the jail in Rome around 2 p.m. Friday after deputies learned the woman was wanted on undisclose­d charges out of Madison County, Alabama.

Pitts was being held in the Floyd County Jail on Friday night without bond.
