- Funeral Home William Chad Lance Clarence Edward Martin

Mr. William Chad Lance, age 49, of Cedartown, Ga., passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in Rome, Ga.

He was born on April 5, 1968 in Gainesvill­e, Ga., son of Lamar and Sharon Lance.

Chad was always that person with the gentle, positive outlook and always striving to push forward. He enjoyed sports cars and Georgia football, but he was happiest when he could impact someone’s soul in a positive way. One of Chad’s many inspiratio­nal mottoes: “I’m blessed with everything I need. I am working hard towards everything I want. And most of all, I appreciate and thank God for what I have.”

He is preceded in death by his father, Bryon “Lamar” Lance; grandparen­ts, Harold & Thelma Aiken, Carolyn Crumley and Bryon “Bill” Lance; mother-inlaw, Betty Faye Astin.

Survivors include his wife, Heather Astin Lance; children, Jayden Lance, Lucie Lance and Anslee Bradshaw; mother, Sharon (Steve) Bodlovic; sister & brother-in-law, Tammy and Mike McCurley; nephew, Lance McCurley; niece, Kate McCurley; father-inlaw & mother-in-law, James and Ann Astin; sister-inlaw, Kelly Russell; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

Services for Mr. Chad Lance will be held Sunday, July 2, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Smith & Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Blake Dodd officiatin­g.

The family will receive friends Sunday, July 2, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour at the Smith & Miller Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Cedartown, Ga.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearer­s: Cary Morgan, Paul Toles, Jimmy Hillis, Lance McCurley, and Stephen Phillips.

The family has respectful­ly asked that flowers be omitted. You may make memorial contributi­ons in Chad’s name to the Our House Battered Women’s Shelter, P.O. Box 1647, Cedartown, Georgia 30125 or to a charity of your choice.

For those who are unable to attend, the funeral service will be available via live stream on YouTube, smith and miller live stream.

A memorial service in Chad’s honor will be held on Saturday, July 8, at 2 p.m. at St. James Methodist Church, 111 West Lake Drive, Athens, Ga. 30606 for those unable to attend the funeral services in Cedartown.

Mamie Lou Casey, age 76, of White, Ga., passed Wednesday, June 28, 2017, in a Cartersvil­le hospital.

Mamie was born July 18, 1940 in Bartow County, a daughter of the late Robert Brawner Sr. and Jessie Mae Butler Brawner. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Joann Sparks.

Survivors include her husband, Charles Casey; her two sons, Jeff (Willma) Casey, Adam (Paula) Casey; four grandchild­ren, Dakota Barker Casey, Beverly Stilwell, Daniel Stilwell, and Bruce Stilwell; and one sister, Minnia Fann.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Chastain officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Cass Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2017.

Pallbearer­s are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2017, and include the following gentlemen: Terry Brawner, Harold Brawner Jr., Dakota Barker Casey, Daniel Stilwell, James Casey Jr., J.R. Casey III, Ernest Fann.

Edna Davis Barron

Mrs. Edna Davis Barron, age 93, of Rome, passed away at the residence of her son Bill (Phyllis) Barron on Thursday, June 29, 2017.

The family will receive friends on the morning of Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Daniel’s Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. A service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the Thomas B. Griffin Chapel of Daniel’s. Interment will follow the service at East View Cemetery. A complete obituary will be in next week’s paper.

Mr. Clarence Edward “Ed” Martin, age 76, of the Shannon community, passed away Thursday morning, June 29, 2017, at his residence.

Mr. Martin will be cremated. Arrangemen­ts for the memorial service will be announced later.
