Mary Elaine Cagle

Mary Elaine Cagle, age 66, of Rome, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at her residence.

Mrs. Cagle was born July 12, 1950 in Floyd County, a daughter of the late Aubrey Ingram and Ruby May Newberry Ingram. She was retired from Kellogg’s Bakery.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Johnny Ingram, Forrest Ingram; sisters, Annie Mae Davenport, Opal Pope.

Survivors include son, Jim Cagle, Rome; daughters, Lisa Reid, Rome, and Sherry Cagle, Rome; brothers, Gary Ingram, Rome, and A.V. Ingram, Texas; sisters, Peggy Highfield, Texas, and Teresa Bradford, Rockmart; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Parnick Jennings Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Synard Bradford officiating.

Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave., Rome, Ga. 30165.

Pallbearers include Jim Cagle, Erica LeCory, Bryant LeCory, Josh Reid, Byran Cagle, and Tripp Pegg.

David Edwards

David Edwards, age 59, of Rome, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017, in Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.

David was born July 2, 1958 in Floyd County, the son of Louise Tucker Edwards and the late Floyd Edwards. David dug graves by hand for many funeral homes in Northwest Georgia for 51 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Edwards; brother, Steve Edwards; sister, Brenda Edwards.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Danette Sharp Edwards; daughters, Tisha McDonald, Rome, Caprice Willetts, Rome, Shandie Minter, Rome, and Ferren Dawson, Rome; mother, Louise Tucker Edwards, Rome; brothers, Jimmy Ray Edwards, Rome, Roger Edwards, Cave Springs, and Michael Edwards, Cedartown; seven granddaughters, three grandsons, two great granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Family visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Ave., Rome, Ga. 30165.

By his request, David was laid to rest at Beech Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, the day of his passing.
