Report: Thief locked himself in gas station

-

Police say the man who tried to escape through the ceiling was found with a stolen car.

An Aragon man remained in jail without bond Tuesday after being accused of taking $ 55 in gas from a Citgo station on Huffaker Road off Ga. 20 and then locking himself inside the store and climbing through the ceiling early Monday.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Labron Kim Jenkins, 23, of 75 Whitman Loop, Aragon, was taken into custody around 7: 50 a. m. Monday, about an hour after the incident began.

As Jenkins moved through the ceiling, he damaged the tiles. He eventually got out of the building and jumped a fence to an adjacent property.

Once police rounded him up, it was discovered that he was driving a stolen vehicle, had used another person’s financial transaction card to try and get the gas, had methamphetamine on him, had a lot of jewelry on him, and had multiple knives on him. He also failed to comply with orders from officers.

Jenkins is charged with felony second- degree criminal damage to property and possession of methamphetamine. He is additionally facing misdemeanor charges of theft by taking, two counts of criminal trespass, and theft by receiving stolen property, driving while license suspended, financial transaction card fraud, possession of a knife during the commission of crime and three counts of willful ob- struction of law enforcement officers.

Jenkins was also being held in jail for the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office on undisclosed charges.
