The partnership between Floyd Corporate Health and area school systems has resulted in the placement of automated external defibrillators and storage containers in Floyd County and Rome schools.
AEDs are portable electronic devices that automatically diagnose irregular heartbeats and are immediately able to treat them by applying an electrical current that helps the heart re-establish an effective rhythm.
Last week, Floyd Corporate Health, part of the Floyd health care system, delivered 11 AEDs and storage containers to Floyd County Schools.
Also last week, Floyd Corporate Health delivered containers to Rome City Schools. Floyd Cor- porate Health provided the city school system with 10 of the devices last year and followed up this year with the containers, said Chris Butler, Director of Floyd Corporate Health said.
“Our partnership with Floyd Corporate Health continues to grow and we are very appreciative of the services they provide for Floyd County Schools,” said Deputy Superintendent April Childers. “This amazing donation provides us with a tool that could save a life in an emergency situation and we are grateful. Chris Butler and his team at Floyd has made Floyd County Schools a priority and we look forward to working with them in the upcoming years.”
