Mrs. Arlene Robinson, age 77, of Rome, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017, in a local hospital.

A native of Gordon County, Mrs. Robinson was born September 19, 1939 daughter of the late Paul and Pearl Frix and Earlene and Ruben Allen. She had been a resident of Shannon most of her life and prior to retirement, was employed with Galey and Lord in the spinning department. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shannon, and enjoyed spending time with her family, her flower garden, Lifetime movies and murder mysteries. She kept children in her home and was a devoted caregiver to her husband, Benny Joe Robinson, who preceded her in death in 2005. Mrs. Robinson was also preceded in death by two daughters Julia Dooley and Lisa Mason, a grandchild McClain Baird, and a sister Betty Sue Grogan.

Survivors include her sons: Mitchell (Robin) Baird of Calhoun, Michael Baird and Jeremy (Samantha) Robinson, both of Kingston and Billy Stinchcomb of Buford; daughters Shannon (Linn) Shirey of Armuchee, Susan Spiva of Calhoun, Elaine Robinson and Faye (Wade) Sherman of Buford. Grandchild­ren Nicholas and Jay Baird, Haley and Mandy Spiva, Haven and Talan Shirey, Baylen and Weston Robinson, Wesley Thacker, Shauna and Christina Gore, Haley Sherman, Lacey and Kelly Stinchcomb, Trish, Nicole, and Sarah Mason. Several great and great great grand children also survive, along with brothers Johnny Frix and Ruben Allen Jr. and sisters Marie Morehead and Marcella Johnson.

Graveside funeral and interment services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2017, at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with Reverends Jody Haggerty and Mitchell Martin officiatin­g. The family will receive friends Monday from 12 until 1 p.m. at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearer­s: Nicholas and Jay Baird, Mitchell and Wayne Martin, Chris Carter, and Randy Gore. Randy Martin will be an honorary pallbearer. George Clyde Durham, age 91, of Rome, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017. Mr. Durham was a United States Marine Corp. veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific.

He was born in Ft. Payne, Alabama, son of the late Jack and Lydia Walker Durham of the Adamsburg community. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Eloise Suttles and Phyllis Holbrook Dingler and by two brothers, Billy Durham and Ralph Durham and by one daughter, Drusilla Durham.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Durham was employed with Georgia Kraft as an electricia­n. He was a member and deacon of Fellowship Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, the former Inez Beaty, a son, Randy Durham and a daughter Kathy (Louie) Atkins; three grandchild­ren, John (Rachel) Hardman, Jere (Jamie) Hardman, Melissa (Johnathan) Hunter; five great grandchild­ren, Lilyan, Jaide, Audrey, Dru, and Wilson.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church. Dr. Dale LeVan and Rev. Max Tucker will officiate.

The family will receive friends at Fellowship Baptist Church on Sunday at 2 p.m. for one hour prior to the funeral.

Interment will follow in Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Adamsburg, Ala.

Flowers will be accepted but the family would like contributi­ons to be made to Fellowship Baptist Church or to Heyman Hospice.

Johnny Conn Roland, age 75, of Rome, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 19, 2017.

A native of Floyd County, Mr. Roland was born February 28, 1942, son of the late Luther Roland and Lillian Walraven Roland. He was a retired employee of Bekaert Steel Wire and enjoyed metal detecting, cave exploring, scuba diving, and stamp and coin collecting. He had a very strong work ethic. Mr. Roland was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Joyce Dobbs Roland on August 10, 2013.

Survivors include two daughters Angie Hall and Kimberly Hood; grandchild­ren Haley Tynan, Alex Hall, Hayden Hood, and Heaven Hood; Great grandchild­ren Davin Tynan and Lila Hood. A sister Jean Robbins also survives.

Memorial services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue, with the Rev. officiatin­g. The family will receive friends following the service until 8 p.m. Private interment services will be conducted at a later date at Bush Arbor Cemetery.

Cynthia Irene Edmonds White, age 74, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017.

Mrs. White was born August 19, 1942 in Habersham County, Georgia. The daughter of the late Arthur Harold Edmonds and Mildred Claudine Herbert Edmonds. She was of the Baptist faith. She retired from Sara Lee Bakery in Rome, Georgia, in 2007.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Lynn Phelps.

Survivors include her grandchild­ren; Heather Scott, Gadsden, Alabama, David Carter, and Joshua Carter, Dallas, Georgia, great grandchild­ren; Reagen Scott and Brody Scott, Gadsden, Alabama, siblings; Gail Brown, South Carolina, Herbert Edmonds, Florida, and Jerry Edmonds, Rome, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2017, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165, with Rev. Herman Stamey, officiatin­g.
