GMC Envoy taken from repair shop

-

The owner of Mike Ford’s Auto Services reported to Rome police that someone had come on the property early Friday and taken a 2005 silver GMC Envoy, driving it through a locked gate to get off the lot after running into several other vehicles.

According to Rome police reports:

The owner of the business at 531 W. 12th St. told police he had several cameras at his business that were able to record the theft of his vehicle around 4:20 a.m. Friday. The vehicle the man took had low-fluid levels and it would most likely overheat, the business owner told police.

The video shows a tall, slender white male initially going for a Chevrolet Nova, which was on a trailer, but he didn’t mess with it. He then went to the Envoy that had the keys inside, pulling out and rear-ending a vehicle that doesn’t belong to the owner — there was no visible damage to the vehicle.

The man then struck another vehicle, causing slight damage to its bumper. Finally, without hitting any other vehicles, the man drove across the lot and pulled up next to a pickup truck. He got out of the Envoy and got into the truck and knelt inside it for a brief time.

After getting back in the Envoy, the man rammed through the gate and turned left onto West 12th Street and drove off. The vehicle had no license plate on it.

The gate is valued at $600 and the Envoy is valued at $4,500.
