A Rome man accused of an early morning armed robbery at the Sunoco Food Mart on Maple Avenue has been indicted by the Floyd County grand jury.

Cody Ray Brand, 29, of 2009 Hull Ave., is accused of entering the store at 2039 Maple Ave. around 1:27 a.m. June 5, pointing a gun at the clerk and demanding money.

The clerk said the robber was wearing a white plastic mask with a mustache drawn on it.

Officers responding to the call noticed a vehicle traveling erratically and followed it to 2009 Hull St. A search in and around the home turned up the mask and a bag containing $2,010 in cash.

Police searching the area near the Sunoco Food Mart found Brand’s bicycle behind a nearby shop.

The grand jury handed up a number of indictments late Friday afternoon.
