3 separate thefts from vehicles reported Monday

Three separate incidents where items were taken from cars at two restaurant­s and the Rome-Floyd County YMCA from Monday afternoon into the night were reported to Rome police. According to Rome police reports: The first theft happened sometime between 4:30 and 6:50 p.m. in the parking lot of La Parilla Mexican restaurant at 413 Turner McCall Blvd. A woman, who works at the restaurant, told police an off-duty co-worker called her to tell she saw a man get out of the backseat of her Jeep Patriot and get into a silver Dodge Ram.

The woman immediatel­y went to her Jeep, and she found the driver’s side door unlocked — she reported to police she had locked the car before going inside. A small area next to the door handle had pry marks on it from the process used to get into the vehicle.

A Michael Kors purse, valued at $150, with two Social Security cards, a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses, valued at $200, and $184 in cash inside it.

The next theft took place sometime

from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the YMCA, with two bags being taken from a man’s vehicle in the parking lot. The man told police he thought he left his doors unlocked as he was inside working out.

One of the bags taken was used as a wallet, containing his driver’s license, several bank cards, gift cards, his Social Security card and a portable charger. In the other bag, the man had his blood glucose meter and insulin valve. All together, the items were valued at almost $200.

The last incident took place in the parking lot of Provino’s Italian restaurant at 288 Shorter Ave. between 8 and 8:45 p.m. Someone had broken into the man’s vehicle by damaging a door handle to get in, and taken items valued at $4,418. The man said he locked the doors before going into the restaurant with a woman.

A Kel-Tec .380 pistol and a Charter Arms .38 Special revolver with two holsters were taken, along with $933 in cash, a purse, wallet, several gift cards, a makeup bag with makeup items inside, a diamond necklace, and a Social Security card. Medication was also taken, including 33 Adderall pills and 50 oxycodone pills.
