Jack Bamard Burchett

Mr. Jack Bamard Burchett, age 83, of Rome, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017, in a local health care facility.

Mr. Burchett was born in Plainville, Ga. on June 2, 1934, son of the late Robert Wesley Burchett and the late Martha Louise Crews Tinlin. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Edna Brown, and by a brother, Robert Thomas Burchett Sr. He enlisted in the United States Army and served as a combat infantryma­n during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio for 22 years.

He leaves behind two sons, Michael (Mike) Burchett, Augusta, and Mitchell Burchett, Woodstock; a sister, Martha L. Pallay, Youngstown, Ohio; a brother, Raymond B. Burchett, Rome; two granddaugh­ters, nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service was held in Rome, Georgia.

Leonard Eugene Fair

Mr. Leonard Eugene Fair, age 85, of Lindale, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 1, 2017, at Mt. Berry Hospice.

Mr. Fair was born in Murray County, Ga. on February 9, 1932, son of the late Thomas C. and Lucille Hall Fair. He was also preceded in death by a son, David Len Fair, and by five half-sisters and five half-brothers. Mr. Fair served in the Georgia National Guard for several years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years with West Point Pepperell Manufactur­ing Co. in Lindale. Mr. Fair was a member of First Baptist Church of Lindale, the Lindale Lodge #455 F. & A.M., the Rome Shrine Club, Yaarab Temple, and Scottish Rite of Atlanta. He was also a member of the Quarter Century Club.

Survivors include his wife, the former Virginia Smith, to whom he was married on December 20, 1952; two brothers-in-law, D. D. Smith, Smiths, Ala., and Larry Smith, and his wife, Nancy, Warner Robins, Ga.; step brother-in-law, Donald Wilson, and his wife, Pat, Marietta; special cousins, the family of the late Clyde Britton of Dalton; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017, at noon in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Cook officiatin­g. Private interment will follow later in Floyd Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Friday from 10 a.m. until the service hour. At other times, they may be contacted at the residence.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Mt. Berry Hospice, 4300 Martha Berry Highway, Rome, Ga. 30165.

Howard Thompson Hyde

Mr. Howard Thompson Hyde, age 81, of Silver Creek, passed away peacefully at his residence on August 1, 2017 with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Floyd County, where he spent most of his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Hyde, and mother, Martha Tate Hyde, and two brothers, Raymond Hyde and Charles Hyde.

Mr. Hyde honorably served in the United States Army as a military policeman with two of his assignment­s in Korea. He spent many years in the automobile business and after his retirement he enjoyed all kinds of sports, traveling and taking care of his lawn and pool. He was a member of the Wax Baptist Church in Silver Creek.

Mr. Hyde is survived by his loving wife, the former Evelyn Scoggins, and a son, Marcus Scott Hyde. Also surviving are brothers, Donald Hyde, of Villa Rica, Georgia; Walter Hyde, of Winston, Georgia; Glen Hyde, of Rogers, Minnesota; Travis Hyde, of Plainville, Georgia; and Tony Hyde, of Rome; sister-inlaw, Jeanette Jackson, and her husband, Thomas Jackson.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Daniel’s Funeral Home from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. A service will follow in the Thomas B. Griffin Chapel of Daniel’s at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Travis Hyde officiatin­g. The Honor Guard from the American Legion Shanklin-Attaway Post No. 5 will confer the military rites.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectful­ly requests memorial contributi­ons to be made to the charity of your choice.

Ellen Joyce Reynolds

Mrs. Ellen “Joyce” Reynolds, 74, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

Services for Mrs. Reynolds will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Kingdom Church Internatio­nal, Old Calhoun Road, with the Rev. Dr. Jeffery Streator officiatin­g. The body will lie in state from noon until funeral services. Interment will follow the services in the East View Cemetery.

Visitation with family and friends will be on Friday, August 4, 2017, from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Wright Memorial Chapel.

Wright Memorial Mortuary has been entrusted with the services for Mrs. Ellen “Joyce” Reynolds.

Eleanor Palatini

Funeral services for Mrs. Eleanor Palatini, 92, of Cave Spring, who died Sunday evening, will be held Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. at the graveside in Cave Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until shortly before the service hour.
