2 taken to hospital after head-on wreck

Emergency personnel work to free a woman from the wreckage of a Daewoo Leganza following a head-on wreck on Shorter Avenue in front of Hardee’s on Thursday afternoon. The driver of the Daewoo was taken to Floyd Medical Center, as was the driver of the other vehicle, a Ford Expedition.

A Rome woman driving a Daewoo Leganza pulled out of the West Rome Hardee’s into the path of a westbound Ford Expedition resulting in a head on wreck at noon Thursday.

According to Rome police Pfc. Rick Robinson:

Brishauna Griffin, 21, of Rome, who was the driver of the Daewoo, turned east but never crossed all the way into the eastbound lanes.

Kenneth Rowland, 63, Rome, driver of the Expedition, was taken to Floyd Medical Center with visible injuries. Griffin was trapped inside her car and also taken to FMC after she was freed from the wreckage by first responders.

Griffin, who will be charged with driving on the wrong side of the road, was listed in stable condition at Floyd Medical Center on Thursday evening. Rowland was treated for his injuries and released early Thursday afternoon.

Drug task force jails 3 on drug charges

Rome Floyd Metro Task Force officers arrested a man and two women on felony drug charges following investigat­ions at two locations in Rome.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Calveigh Taiquin Ashworth, 20, and Kira Lynn Elliott, 20, both of 210 Cole Road, Aragon, were arrested Wednesday afternoon at 1014 Cave Spring Road. Julie Henderson Corn, 43, of 2816 Kingston Highway, was arrested Wednesday evening at the Eastland Court apartments.

Elliott and Ashworth are charged with felony possession of a schedule III, IV, or V drug with the intent to distribute, felony possession of a schedule III, IV or V drug and conspiracy to sell a schedule III, IV or V drug. Corn is charged with a misdemeano­r for use of a communicat­ions device during a drug transactio­n.

Officers allege Corn used a cellphone to set up to sell Tramadol to an undercover officer.

The same officers arrested Corn about three hours later for possession of Schedule I drugs which were not in an original container. Corn is charged with two counts of felony possession of a Schedule II drugs and two misdemeano­r counts of drugs not in an original container as well as a misdemeano­r count of criminal trespassin­g.

All three were in jail without bond Thursday night.

Rome man charged with child molestatio­n

A Rome man has been released from jail on $11,200 bond after his arrest on

child molestatio­n and sexual battery charges.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Jason Lawrence Millican, 36, of 5 Club View Drive, was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of felony sexual battery against a child under the age of 16 and two counts of child molestatio­n for inappropri­ately touching a child with the intent to arouse himself July 25 at a location in the 1400 block of Turner McCall Boulevard.

More charges added for rape suspect

A Rome man arrested in July on a felony rape charge now faces additional charges stemming from the same incident.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Brandon Lee Kyle Isham, 24, of 44 East Drive, is also now charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeano­r battery on a woman near the intersecti­on of the Veterans Memorial Highway and Ga. 20 on July 21.

Isham was originally arrested July 28 on a strongarm rape charge and was being held in jail without bond Thursday night.

Man reports items stolen from truck

A man reported to police that items valued at $2,150 were taken from his unlocked truck sometime from Wednesday night to Thursday morning.

According to Rome police reports:

The truck was parked behind Rudy’s European Auto Repair, which is the man’s auto repair shop at 1403 Shorter Ave. A .40-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun, Oakley sunglasses, a Sony camera and a bag of tools were taken from the truck.

Woman charged with identity fraud

A Summervill­e woman was in jail without bond Thursday night after being accused of using a fictitious name to defraud a representa­tive of Redmond Regional Medical Center on April 13.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Haley Nicole Smith, 24, of 140 Bittings Ave., Summervill­e, was arrested Thursday on a felony identify fraud warrant. She listed a fictitious name as the guarantor of payment of a man’s medical fees at the hospital, 501 Redmond Road.

Man accused of Wal-Mart shopliftin­g

A Cedartown man landed in jail Thursday after being accused of taking items valued at $927.49 from the East Rome WalMart on July 3.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Samuel Marvin Johnson, 39, of 3615 Piedmont Highway, Cedartown, was arrested Thursday on a felony shopliftin­g warrant. According to the warrant, he put a TV, a sound bar, several watches and toilet paper in a shopping cart and walked out of the store at 825 U.S. 411.

Johnson was in jail without bond Thursday night.

Man charged with drugs, trespass

A Rome man was in jail without bond Thursday night after kicking and damaging a door at an East 20th Street home, and then being found with a plastic bag of meth and a hypodermic needle during the execution of a search warrant, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Dustin James Lopez, 26, of 515 E. 20th St., was arrested at his home around 3:50 p.m. Thursday.

Lopez is charged with felony possession of methamphet­amine along with misdemeano­r possession of drug-related objects and criminal trespass.

Woman threatens to kill another

A Rome woman was in jail without bond Thursday night after being accused of telling a woman that she was going to kill her.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Angel Darlene Bowman, 45, of 10 S. Hughes St., was arrested around 10:40 a.m. Thursday. She threatened the woman as she was leaving a temporary protective order hearing at the courthouse earlier Thursday morning.

Bowman is charged with felony terroristi­c threats and acts.

Woman reports fraudulent check

A woman told police Wednesday that when she went to deposit a check she received from a friend, it was flagged by the bank as fraudulent.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

The woman’s friend had asked her to wire her $2,400, and in return, she would write her a check for that amount. Before the woman wired the money, she tried to deposit the check, which came back as fraudulent.
