TILLMAN CLOCKTOWER 5K — The Gary Tillman Memorial Clocktower 5K Road Race and 2-mile Health Walk will be Saturday at 8 a.m. in Heritage Park. Race day registration will be open from 6:30-7:30 a.m. and is $35 for the 5K and $30 for the health walk. Online registration is now closed. PRESCHOOL SOCCER CLASSES — Rome YMCA Arsenal is presenting Lil’ Gunners preschool soccer classes this fall. Each session introduces soccer through games and activities. The first session of four classes begins Sept. 7 with a second session starting Oct. 12. The cost is $25 for YMCA members and $40 for non-members, and includes a team shirt and medal. Classes meet at Grizzard Park on Thursdays from 4:50-5:25 p.m. and are limited to 15 participants. For more information contact the YMCA at 706-232-2468.
ARSENAL FALL SOCCER — Early registration for the Rome YMCA Arsenal fall recreational soccer league is going on through Tuesday. The focus is participation and fun with development of fundamental skills through activities and games. Players are separated into boys and girls divisions with different age groups from 6-and under to 15-and-under. Early registration is $69 for YMCA members and $109 for non-members.
Fees increase $10 after Aug. 22 and include a jersey, end-of-season award and party, as well as Georgia Soccer Association registration. For more information contact the YMCA at 706-232-2468.
RUN WRIGHT THIS WAY — A fundraiser for Rome resident Ginger Wright, who is battling breast cancer, will be held Sept. 2 at Wright Athletic Development, 215 N. Fourth Ave. A 10K, 5K and 1-mile health walk will be held beginning at 7:30 a.m. The cost is $35 for the 10K, $30 for the 5K and $25 for the health walk. SWING FOR THE KIDS GOLF CLASSIC — The Rome-Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth will hold its 23rd annual Swing for the Kids Golf Classic on Sept. 8 at Stonebridge Golf Club with a 9 shotgun start. A continental breakfast and barbecue lunch will be served. Registration for teams of four starts at $500 and includes two mulligans per golfer.
