Medical field a top local employer
A jobs report for the region also shows demand for truck drivers, retail employees and food service workers.
Health care providers were the top employers hiring in Floyd County during the first half of the year.
“Of course health care has been in demand for years, and will continue to be,” said Lesia Lambert, director of workforce development at the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission.
A monthly report issued by the NWGRC to members of its 15-county board tracks the top 10 hirers and occupations advertised in each county. Lambert said the listing comes from CEB Talent Neuron, a company that gathers global talent supply and demand data.
“This is for informational purposes, for us as well as our board,” she said. “It helps us as a region to plan.”
Heavy truck and tractor-trailer drivers topped the list of jobs advertised in all 15 counties. Workers in retail and food service also were widely sought, along with nurses, physical therapists, medical assistants and pharmacy technicians.
