RUN WRIGHT THIS WAY — A fundraiser for Rome resident Ginger Wright, who is battling breast cancer, will be held Saturday at Wright Athletic Development, 215 N. Fourth Ave. A 10K, 5K and 1-mile health walk will be held beginning at 7:30 a.m. The cost is $35 for the 10K, $30 for the 5K and $25 for the health walk. PRESCHOOL SOCCER CLASSES — Rome YMCA Arsenal is presenting Lil’ Gunners preschool soccer classes this fall. Each session introduces soccer through games and activities. The first session of four classes will begin Sept. 7 with a second session starting Oct. 12. The cost is $25 for YMCA members and $40 for non-members, and includes a team shirt and medal. SWING FOR THE KIDS GOLF CLASSIC — The Rome-Floyd County Commission on Children and Youth will hold its 23rd annual Swing for the Kids Golf Classic on Sept. 8 at Stonebridge Golf Club with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. A continental breakfast and barbecue lunch will be served. Registration for teams of four starts at $500 and includes two mulligans per golfer. TUMOR TROOPER RUN/WALK — The Tumor Trooper Run/Walk will be held Oct. 7 at Richard B. Russell Regional Airport, 304 Russell Field Road. Registration begins at 7 a.m., 1-mile walk begins at 8 a.m. and 5K run starts at 8:30 a.m. Proceeds benefit the Georgia Chapter of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Register at www.active.com. HARBIN HERO HUSTLE 5K — The 2017 Harbin Hero Hustle 5K Race and TwoMile Health Walk is set for Oct. 14 in downtown Rome. Online registration costs $25 for the 5K and $20 for the walk. Race-day registration costs $30 for the 5K. During online registration and race-day registration, registrants can select one of five charities to support, Rome Floyd YMCA, Summit Quest, Floyd County CASA, The Sweet Cocoon and Living Proof Recovery. ALZHEIMER’S WALK — The Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held Oct. 21 at 9 a.m. at State Mutual Stadium. Walk participants will complete a two-mile walk and learn about Alzheimer’s disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical studies enrollment and support programs and services from the Alzheimer’s Association. Participants will also join in a tribute ceremony to honor those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Sign up as a team captain, join a team or register to walk individually at www.georgiawalk.org.
