Third Street Ministries

will give free clothing to homeless and low income residents of Rome today from 2:30-5:30 p.m. and Sept. 12 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the parking lot between Second Street and Third Street. The parking lot is behind Good Neighbor Ministries on Second Street across from the bus station.

The 28th annual Running

Water Pow Wow will be held today and Sunday at Ridge Ferry Park, 363 Riverside Parkway. The gates will be open today from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Grand entry is at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. today and at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets sold at the gate. Admission is $8 for ages 13-64. Ages 12 and younger and 65 and older get in free.

Jehovah’s Witnesses

Summervill­e Main Street will host a Cowboy/ Western Heritage Festival

today from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Summervill­e Depot, 119 E. Washington St., Summervill­e. Activities will include Western artisans and vendors, demonstrat­ions, displays of buggies and wagons, Cowboy Church Clowns, square dancing, mock old west gun fights, cowboy music, the arrival of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum Passenger Train, and a wagon train and cowboy parade. Holiday, the city of Rome’s public excursion boat, is offering the summer’s final public tour at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for children 12 and younger. The American Legion Post 5 and Ladies Auxiliary annual Labor

Day Picnic for members and their guests will be held Monday at the Post Farm, Jones Bend Road, at noon.

The Knights of Columbus Labor Day

Barbecue will be held Monday at the Rome Civic Center, 400 Civic Center Drive, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. (or sold out). Options include barbecue plates, sandwiches or bulk sales. Plates will cost $9 for a choice of beef, pork, ribs or a quarter of a chicken, each served with Brunswick stew, baked beans, chips and bread. One pound of beef or pork to go will cost $9; $5 for a sandwich combo; $7 for half a chicken or a quart of baked beans; $9 for a quart of Brunswick stew; and $18 for a half-rack of spare ribs.
