The City of Rome Downtown Development Office will host a free outdoor presentation of Beauty and the Beast at 8 p.m. tonight at the Town Green. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and bottled water for an onsite bottled water drive for those affected by Hurricane Harvey from 7-10 p.m. The Forum River Center will offer concessions including snacks, drinks and adult beverages. The Georgia Department of Corrections will
be hosting a hiring
event in the Building A auditorium at Georgia Northwestern Technical College, 1 Maurice Culberson Drive, on Sept. 14 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The department is hiring correctional officers for Hays State Prison, Summerville. There will be on-site interviews, PT and Accuplacer testing. Eligible candidates will receive a hiring package on the same day. Applicants should bring copies of the completed State of Georgia application available at www.GDCJobs.com, valid driver’s license, birth certificate, Social Security card, high school diploma or GED transcript, SAT, ACT, Compass, Asset or Accuplacer scores and a copy of their POST profile. The City of Rome Downtown Development Office
will hold downtown loft tours Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. The event will showcase five different downtown properties otherwise unavailable for public viewing. The walking tour is moderate and includes stairs. Tour participants must be at least 12 years old. All proceeds will benefit Rome Area Heritage Foundation. Tickets are $20 and must be purchased online at www.freshtix.com/events/downtownloft-tours.
