Rome will host Debbie Ross of the FERST Foundation for Childhood Literacy on Thursday at noon. The club meets at Coosa Country Club, 110 Branham Ave.
The Georgia Department of Corrections will be hosting a hiring event in the Building A auditorium at Georgia Northwestern Technical College, 1 Maurice Culberson Drive, on Thursday from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The department is hiring correctional officers for Hays State Prison in Summerville. There will be onsite interviews, PT and Accuplacer testing. Eligible candidates will receive a hiring package on the same day. Applicants should bring copies of the completed State of Georgia application available at www.GDCJobs.com, valid driver’s license, birth certificate, Social Security card, high school diploma or GED transcript, SAT, ACT, Compass, Asset or Accuplacer scores and a copy of their POST profile. The Pepperell High School Class of 1967 50-Year Reunion will be held Friday and Saturday.
Classmates will meet at the high school at 6 p.m. Friday for a tour and to attend the football game.
