Sarah Shook Hill

Mrs. Sarah Shook Hill, age 79, of Rome, passed away Friday morning, Sept. 15, 2017, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Hill was born in Columbus, Ohio on March 30, 1938, daughter of the late Dr. Robert Shook and the late Marie Hoffman Shook. She was also preceded in death by a son, Scott Allen Duby, and by a grandson, Jacob Michael Sterling Lindsey. Mrs. Hill was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Prior to her retirement, she was employed with G. M. T. Production­s, after having been employed for over 20 years in sales and marketing with Olan Mills. She was a member of Cornerston­e Pentecosta­l Church in Cedar Bluff, Ala. Mrs. Hill enjoyed quilting and writing poetry and music.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Hill, Rome; four children, Frederick M. Duby, and his wife, Jeri, Wellston, Ohio, Russell Duby, and his wife, Martha, Cedartown, Robert Duby, and his wife, Jessica, Rome, and Jeanae Duby, Portland, OR; a sister, Julie Ann Kolk, Columbus, Ohio; several grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren as well as a number of halfsister­s and half-brothers in Michigan; nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Greg Gardner officiatin­g. Interment services will follow at 2 p.m. in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard extending military honors.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the service hour. At other times, they may be contacted at their respective homes.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at lls.org.

Betty Jo Cooper

Graveside and interment services for Betty Jo Cooper, age 81, of Oakwood, Ga., formerly of Dahlonega, Ga., who passed away on Tuesday evening, Sept. 12, 2017, will be held this (Monday) afternoon at 1 p.m. in the East View Cemetery with Chaplain Ken Oates officiatin­g.
