The Floyd County Republican Women will meet for lunch on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Red Lobster, 700 Shorter Ave. The candidates for City Commission, Sue Lee, Jamie Doss, Randy Quick, Wendy Davis, Monica Sheppard and Bill Kerestes will be the guest speakers. Attendees are asked to bring diapers for donation to Good Neighbors Ministries.
Rome Seven Hills Rotary will meet at noon on Tuesday at Coosa Country Club, 110 Branham Ave. Dr. Hunter Edwards and his wife will share experiences from their travels to Africa to provide dental care.
The Rome affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness will hold its annual candlelight service as part of Mental Illness Awareness Week on Tuesday from 7-8 p.m. at West Rome Baptist Church, 914 Shorter Ave.

The New Romans Club will have a luncheon Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Coosa Country Club, 110 Branham Ave. Mandy Maloney, Executive Director of the Rome Area Council for the Arts, will discuss RACA’s support for area artists. The Floyd County Farmers Market at Ridge Ferry Park will continue for a file Wednesday and Saturday from 7 to 11:30 a.m. to end the summer market season. Items for sale will include fresh vegetables, canned goods, jellies and jams, and craft items. The cost for vendors is $7 per space, which is due upon arrival. For any questions

The Rome African Violet Study Group will meet at 1 p.m. on Thursday, at the Rome Federated Garden Center, 100 E. Eighth St. A program on Other Gesneriads will be presented by Helen Whitfield. For more information call 706-295-3751. The group will hold an African violet plant sale on Oct. 25 at the Last Stop Gift Shop, 402 Civic Center Drive, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The Sons of the American
Revelation will meet at the Landmark, 2740 Martha Berry Highway, on Thursday at noon. The program will be from the “‘Grand Union’ to ‘The Star-Spangled Banner,’ A History of the American Flag” courtesy of the Americanism Committee of the Exchange Club. For information call 706-857-7995.
The Rotary Club of Rome will host Mike Freeman of Shelter Box, an international disaster relief charity, on Thursday at noon at Coosa Country Club, 110 Branham Ave.
The American Red Cross will hold a blood donation drive at the offices of State Farm Insurance, 2939 Martha Berry Highway, on Thursday from noon-5 p.m. Donors of all racial and ethnic backgrounds and all blood types are needed.
