Major additions to the Barnsley Resort are now slated for completion during the first quarter of 2018. General Manager Shawn Jervis told Bartow County business leaders Thursday the new Inn at Barnsley Resort and Georgian Hall are expected to be ready by March 1.

Jervis, who took over the reins of the resort a year ago, said the additions grew out a desire to build an upscale barn for weddings. “At the end of the day we’ll have a 10,000 square foot meeting facility and a 55-room Inn and it’s close to $30 million,” Jervis said.

He said the inn would be one of the nicest hotel properties in the Southeast. “All of the rooms are very residential, different sizes and shapes,” Jervis said.

The Georgian Hall is situated adjacent to the Rice House, a pre-Civil War cottage that was moved from Coosa to Barnsley and has been a restaurant for the past two decades. Jervis explained the new hall would have a 3,000-square-foot kitchen to serve four large meeting rooms. “My team is super excited about that,” Jervis said.

Garden and Gun Magazine is hosting a major sporting clays shooting event at SpringBank Plantation, part of the Barnsley campus this Saturday.

Jervis said new golf course pro Buddy Nichols was planning major enhancements to the course, which is rated number 68 in the world by Golf Advisors. The spa at the resort is also being completely remodeled and will also be ready to open early in the first quarter of 2018.

“Community involvement is a big part of my mantra,” Jervis said. He explained the resort is planning to partner with the Boys & Girls Club of Bartow County in the future through a variety of fundraising events. He also hinted that a major gala to benefit the club would be announced in future. Jervis also expressed a desire to work more closely with the high schools to introduce the teenagers to the hospitality industry, particularly in the culinary field.
