CEDARTOWN — A project more than a year in the making to expand production at Kimoto Tech wrapped up with a grand opening ceremony Tuesday at their Cedartown plant.

The $6 million investment increases the Cedartown plant’s production capabilities to three lines that produce coatings for a variety of products and uses around the globe.

Included in the celebrations for Kimoto Tech’s lines were the company’s president Kazunobu Kimoto and Japan’s Consul General Takashi Shinozuka, among many other local, state and international officials.

The Cedartown plant expansion for Kimoto Tech included the new LC 3 line, plus a Class 1000 Clean Room Compact Coating Line and multiple technology upgrades to the existing coating line.

Kimoto’s investment in Cedartown is backed by bonds to pay for the equipment via a memorandum of understanding put in place with the film-coating company last year. Contributed photo
