Arsenal Select teams pick up 3 wins at start of fall break
The weekend before Rome and Floyd County schools’ fall break included some big wins for the Rome YMCA’s Arsenal Soccer Club Select teams as they went 3-1-1 in limited action last weekend.
The Academy teams went 1-41 in Dalton on Saturday before going 6-11 on Sunday hosting the Impact from Cherokee County.
For the Select teams, the B14IIIW team tied the seventh place AFC Lightning 1-1 to move up to fifth in its division. The B15-VW team posted two wins, beating Mays Strikers 5-0 and Griffin Excel Navy 7-1, to move into third place.
The B19-II team went to Bonaire and beat second place Sacred Heart 2-1 to move up to sixth place, and the G16-A team lost to third place SAF 3-0 in Warner Robins.
For the Academy teams, The G10 team lost to the Elite 11-0 and beat Premier 7-3 with two goals from Denisse Funez-Vela and a goal from Briseyda Desantiago.
The G11 team lost to the Dalton Belles 3-0, Peachtree Corners 2-0, Elite 4-1 — with a goal from Regina Campos — and beat Premier 3-2 with two goals from Camilla Laguna and a goal Teagan Bollwerk.
The G12 team tied Dalton 3-3 with two goals from Chalyse
Brown and a goal from Jermiyah Winston. The Arsenal team then beat Signal Mountain 3-1 with goals from Winston, Maddie Parker and Mallori Faulkner. The team lost to Elite 7-1 and Premier 5-1 on Sunday.
The B10 team lost to Elite 5-3 with two goals from Wallace Ordonez-Ajtun and a goal from Abraham Sanchez. Emmett Holcombe had six saves in goal and Jackson Faulkner had three.
The Arsenal team lost to Premier 5-2 with both goals from Henry Rodriguez. Holcombe and Roger Hartman each had three saves in goal.
The B11 team lost to Elite 3-0 and beat Premier 3-1 with goals from Zeke Donner, Brallam Cux — who also stopped a PK — and Trey Luke.
The B12 team lost to Elite 4-0 and lost to Premier 3-6 with two goals from Jake Trebus and a goal from Wyatt Patterson. It also lost to Gold 5-0. The B9 team beat the Impact Elite 12-1 and Premier 7-4.
The G9 team lost to the Dalton Belles 5-3, Peachtree Corners G10 4-1, Cherokee Impact Elite 6-2 and beat the Impact Premier 4-1.
