TONIGHT’S CAPSULES

-

ROME (5-0, 3-0) AT HIRAM (2-4, 1-3)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Rome leads 7-0

LAST MEETING: Oct. 7, 2016; Rome won 47-0

OUTLOOK: The season has reached the halfway point, and Rome remains unbeaten as it continues through Region 7-5A. The Wolves are traveling back to Paulding County tonight to face a Hiram team that doesn’t yet have a marquee win this season. Rome’s running game is as stout as ever with its passing game opened up by the evolving connection between QB Knox Kadum and receiver Xavier Roberts-Donaldson. The Wolves’ defense should be dominant. RN-T PICK: Rome by 28

SONORAVILLE (3-3, 0-1) AT HARALSON COUNTY (0-5, 0-1)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Sonoraville leads 1-0

LAST MEETING: Oct. 7, 2016; Sonoraville won 44-20

OUTLOOK: Back-to-back close losses have Sonoraville in a defensive stance as it heads into its final three games in the 6-AAA South subregion. Tonight looks to be the start of some positive movement from the Phoenix as they make the trek down to Tallapoosa to take on the winless Haralson County Rebels. The important thing for Sonoraville is to be able to refocus for what lies ahead. RN-T PICK: Sonoraville by 28

DARLINGTON (3-3. 2-1) AT N. COBB CHRISTIAN (1-4, 0-2)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Darlington leads 1-0

LAST MEETING: Oct. 7, 2016; Darlington won 42-7

OUTLOOK: A week after an overtime battle with Mt. Zion, the Darlington Tigers hit the road to try and push the last remnants of the onepoint loss out of their heads. The cure: a Region 6-A/A game against a struggling North Cobb Christian team on a four-game losing streak. Darlington’s defense can get some good reps and work out the woes that plagued them last week, while running back Tijai Whatley continues to find the end zone frequently. RN-T PICK: Darlington by 28

CEDARTOWN (5-1, 1-1) AT CENTRAL-CARROLL (3-3, 1-1)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Cedartown leads 13-10

LAST MEETING: Oct. 7, 2016; Cedartown won 26-6

OUTLOOK: The Bulldogs are keeping things simple this season by focusing on the one thing you have control over — themselves. So far, the philosophy is a success. Cedartown QB Trevon Wofford is leading an offense that has been able to put up points early and often in nearly every game, while the defense continues to clamp down quick on opponents. Central-Carroll can be forceful on the line, but is coming up short when it comes to finishing games. RN-T PICK: Cedartown by 14

CALHOUN (5-1, 1-0) AT ADAIRSVILLE (3-2, 0-0)

TIME: 7:30 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY: Calhoun leads 18-9

LAST MEETING: Oct. 7, 2016; Calhoun won 29-3

OUTLOOK: A Region 6-3A South showdown just a short trip down I-75 for Calhoun, tonight’s matchup is the first of three straight games for the Jackets that should provide them a little more competition than their most recent contests. Adairsville held Calhoun to its fewest points of any region opponent last season, and the Tigers seem to be improved this year. Still, Calhoun hasn’t lost a region game since 2001. The streak should stay intact for another week. RN-T PICK: Calhoun by 21
