Shorter University, 315 Shorter Ave., will host a celebratio­n and book release in the Arnold Art Gallery on-campus for Angie Crea O’Neal, the Joan Alden Speidel Chair in English, today at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Light refreshmen­ts will be served.

The Floyd County Board of Commission­ers meet today in the Community Room, Suite 206, on the second floor of the Floyd County Administra­tion Building, 12 E. Fourth Ave. Caucus will begin at 2 p.m. in the Commission­ers Caucus Room, Suite 204, followed by the Board Meeting at 4 p.m. The meetings are open to the public.

Rome Seven Hills Rotary will meet at Coosa Country Club, 110 Branham Ave., today at noon. Floyd County Schools Superinten­dent Dr. John Jackson will speak on the upcoming ELOST.

The Rome Lions Club will meet today at noon at Red Lobster, 700 Shorter Ave. Regina Wright of Riverwood Retirement and Remembranc­e Village will be the guest speaker.

Chieftains Museum/ Major Ridge Home will host archaeolog­ist Pat Garrow for a presentati­on titled “What We Learned from Archaeolog­y at Chieftains” Wednesday at 7 p.m. Garrow has had a 51-year career in archaeolog­y, of which 40 years have been spent in cultural resource management.
