Ruth Earle Talley

Ruth Earle Talley, age 85, of Rome, Ga., passed away Monday, October 9, 2017, after a short illness.

Ruth was born May 21, 1932 in Shannon, Ga., the youngest of four children born to Malcolm Landrum Earle and Pearl Davis Earle. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Samuel Talley, on October 24, 2007.

Survivors include a son, Jim Talley and daughterin-law, Jennifer Talley, Rome, Ga; two grandsons, Sam Talley and Jack Talley; her sister, Edna Earle Whatley, Rome, Ga.; along with two sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, J.D. Earle and Charles Earle.

Ruth was a graduate of Model High School and attended West Georgia College. Her working years included time at Brighton/Burlington Mills, Talley Insurance Agency and Darlington Middle School. Ruth’s avid love for people was infectious. Visiting old and new friends gave her great pleasure. Once you got her talking, you better be ready for a long visit.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Rome, Ga., for over 40 years and was a member of the Mountain View Garden Club.

She especially loved her friends in the North Pointe Neighborho­od where she resided.

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, downtown Rome, Georgia, on Thursday, October 12, 2017. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Matt DuVall officiatin­g.

Michael Dow Cribb

Mr. Michael Dow Cribb, age 68, of Cartersvil­le, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at a local hospital.

Mr. Cribb was born in Floyd County, Georgia on September 2, 1949, son of the late Woodrow Cribb and the late Elizabeth King Cribb. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. Mr. Cribb retired from Image Industries and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include three sons, the Rev. Jason Cribb and his wife, Jorie, Cartersvil­le; Gavin Cribb and his wife, Nancy, Annandale, Va.; and Aaron Cribb, Shannon; five grandchild­ren.

A memorial service was held on Monday, October 9, 2017, at 6 p.m. in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with his son, the Rev. Jason Cribb, officiatin­g.
