PRESCHOOL SOCCER CLASSES — Rome YMCA Arsenal is presenting Lil’ Gunners preschool soccer classes this fall. Each session introduces soccer through games and activities. The last session of four classes will begin Thursday. The cost is $25 for YMCA members and $40 for nonmembers, and includes a team shirt and medal. Classes meet at Grizzard Park on Thursdays from 4:50-5:25 p.m. and are limited to 15 participan­ts. For more informatio­n contact the YMCA at 706-2322468.

BASKETBALL OFFICIALS NEEDED — Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Northwest Georgia Basketball Officials Associatio­n should contact Larry Payne at paynel@floydcount­yga.org by Friday. Officials are needed for middle school and junior varsity games this season. Training will be required.

HARBIN HERO HUSTLE 5K — The 2017 Harbin Hero Hustle 5K Race and 2-Mile Health Walk is set for Saturday in downtown Rome. Online registrati­on costs $25 for the 5K and $20 for the walk. Race-day registrati­on costs $30 for the 5K. During online registrati­on and race-day registrati­on, registrant­s can select one of five charities to support, Rome Floyd YMCA, Summit Quest, Floyd County CASA, The Sweet Cocoon and Living Proof Recovery. CLUB VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS — The Rome Area Volleyball Club is holding player evaluation and team placements for the upcoming season. Players 14 and under should attend the session Oct. 15 from 2-4 p.m. at Rome High School, while a session for 15-18-year-olds is Oct. 29 from 3-5 p.m. at Rome High School. Make up tryouts for all ages will be Nov. 2 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Shorter University’s WinthropKi­ng Centre. An informativ­e meeting will begin each session. ALZHEIMER’S WALK — The Walk to End Alzheimer’s will be held Oct. 21 at 9 a.m. at State Mutual Stadium. Walk participan­ts will complete a two-mile walk and learn about Alzheimer’s disease, advocacy opportunit­ies, clinical studies enrollment and support programs and services from the Alzheimer’s Associatio­n.
