Fiddlin’ Fest to return to Broad Street on Saturday

The event will take place from noon to 10 p.m. and features two music stages.

Residents and visitors to downtown Rome will get an earful of Bluegrass music on Saturday as Fiddlin’ Fest Between the Rivers returns to Broad Street.

The event will take place from noon to 10 p.m. and features two music stages. Live bluegrass bands will be performing throughout the event and pickers are welcome.

The lineup for the River City Bank stage in the 100 Block of Broad Street will feature the Crescent City Cut Ups at 12:30 p.m., John Grimm at 2 p.m., Barbaric Yawps at 3:30 p.m., Stillhouse Shakers at 5 p.m., Burnt Mountain Benders at 6:15 p.m. and David Long and Midnight from Memphis at 8:15 p.m.

The Hampton Inn stage in the 400 Block will feature Acoustic Strange at noon, Matt Downer at 1:30 p.m., Arlo Finch at 3 p.m., Moon-Crew at 4:30 p.m., Bradley Boys and Watkins Family at 6 p.m. and Caleb Warren & the Perfect Gentleman at 7:30 p.m.

In addition to the music, there will be a car show, kids alley, craft demonstrations, a vendor village and free entry to the scarecrow stroll as well as special exhibitions.

At the other end of Broad Street, Las Vegas illusionist and escape artist Landon Swank will be performing a daring escape outside the Rome City Auditorium.

Swank will recreate the famous Houdini Water Tank Escape act in which he’ll be tied, handcuffed and sealed in a 2,000-pound Lucite tank of water and attempt to escape. The stunt comes ahead of a special “Symphonic Magic” concert which will take place Saturday night inside the city auditorium and will feature Swank performing to music by the Rome Symphony Orchestra.

Admission to Fiddlin’ Fest is free.
