St. Peter’s Episcopal Church teams up with Toys for Tots
Church volunteers will help with toy collection, family registration and distribution to children.
For the last several years, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church has supported the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program with volunteers and toy collections.
This year, the church will focus all Mission and Outreach efforts for November and December on Toys for Tots.
Toy collection boxes will be placed around the church, and parishioners will be active volunteers in toy collection, family registration and toy distribution.
“Toys for Tots is a firstrate organization with a blessed mission. We are happy to partner with them each year,” said Father John Herring, Rector of St. Peter’s.
Toys for Tots is designed and operated by the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation and the Marine Corps Reserve with support by the Exchange Club of Rome. Toys for Tots provides Christmas for children from birth to 12 years of age with new, unwrapped toys. Last year, the foundation provided toys for over 2,500 local children.
Out of every $1 raised, 97 cents goes into buying toys for children. Every penny raised locally stays locally. There are no salaried personnel — every worker is a volunteer.
“We are so happy to be a part of this awesome project,” said Peggy Nash, director of mission and outreach for St. Peter’s. “Waking up on Christmas morning and thinking about the children we helped have a magical Christmas is a gift.”
