TODAY Mercy Care and Heyman HospiceCare at Floyd will host Hope for the Holidays, a time of education, preparation and relaxation for those giving care or grieving the loss of a loved one, today from 11 a.m.1:30 p.m. at 300 Chatillon Road. SATURDAY Saving Our Streets will hold a winter coat drive on Saturday at Hop N’ Shop, 301 Calhoun Ave. Winter coats for children and adults will be accepted. The tours will begin behind Hermann Hall and will depart at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. The tour is 2 miles at a moderate walking pace. It consists of recently restored historic buildings and will include refreshments served on the back porch of the Roosevelt Cabin. Tourists are advised to wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to climb stairs as well as negotiate uneven walkways. Tour admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children. The Summerville Renaissance Festival will be held Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Admission is free. Activities include live entertainment, shopping, art, games and food. Renaissance Performers from Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina will be participating on five different stages. Over 37 live musical and special acts are scheduled throughout the day. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. The 5K walk will start at 11 a.m. in Heritage Park. The purpose is to raise awareness and reduce stigma surrounding mental illness as well as to raise donations that fund NAMI’s free educational courses and support groups.
