Escapee admits himself at Redmond

Roy Samuel Temple, the prisoner who fled from FMC on Thursday, is back in custody.

The prisoner Roy Samuel Temple who fled from Floyd Medical Center on Thursday afternoon was back in custody Friday after checking himself in at Redmond Regional Medical Center several hours after his escape.

“At this time, Mr. Temple is under police guard following our hospital protocol for inmates. We are proud of the members of our team for recognizin­g Mr. Temple and notifying the authoritie­s,” according to an emailed statement from Andrea Pitts, Redmond’s director of marketing and public relations.

The 52-year-old man was being escorted by a private transport service from Tennessee to Florida when he complained about chest pains Wednesday. He was admitted to FMC that day and authoritie­s in Kissimmee, Florida, were notified of his status.

At some point early Thursday afternoon around 1:30 p.m., someone allowed Temple out of his room for a smoke break and he did not return.

Temple has multiple warrants throughout several states, including a grand theft auto charge out of Florida, according to Rome police Lt. Paul Greene.

Warrant: Man jumped pharmacy counter

A Douglasvil­le man was in jail without bond Friday night after being accused of hopping over the counter at CVS Pharmacy and grabbing several nonnarcoti­c medication­s.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Saabir Muhammad, 22, of Douglasvil­le, was arrested Thursday and charged with felony shopliftin­g from the 2015 incident.

On April 19, 2015, he went to the CVS at 1905 Martha Berry Highway. When the pharmacist was away assisting a customer, he leapt over the counter and grabbed the medication­s, which were valued at $1,123.09.

Man charged with aggravated stalking

A Lindale man was in jail without bond Friday night after being accused of violating a temporary protective order by contacting a woman to harass and intimidate her.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Randy Eugene Hunter, 55, of 15 E. Second St., Lindale, was arrested Friday and charged with felony aggravated stalking. On Thursday he contacted a friend of the woman’s and asked them to contact her. He also sent an email to the woman asking her to meet him.

Report: Woman had hydrocodon­e pills

A Rome woman was in jail without bond Friday night after being accused

of having two hydrocodon­e pills in an Advil bottle inside her car, which police had searched during a traffic stop.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Kasey Holmes, 30, of 5 Malone Drive, was arrested around 3:06 p.m. Friday. She had been driving on Riverbend Drive just before 3 p.m. without a tag on the vehicle. An officer spotted this and pulled her over.

After finding she had a felony probation violation warrant related to methamphet­amine possession, the officer asked to search the vehicle and she gave permission. The pain pills were then found.

Holmes is charged with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and misdemeano­r drugs not in original container.

Report: Man fled after traffic stop

A Polk County man whom authoritie­s said fled after a traffic stop in Rome has been apprehende­d and faces felony charges.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Randall Brett Garrett, 39, of 432 Grady Road, Rockmart, fled from Floyd County police Thursday in the area of Maple Road and North Second Street in Lindale between 5 and 6 p.m. with a 5-year-old child in his vehicle.

Garrett was charged with felonies for fleeing and attempting to elude police and obstructio­n of law enforcemen­t and misdemeano­rs for reckless driving and driving on a suspended license. He was released from jail Friday on a $5,700 bond.

Terroristi­c threats result in arrest

A man who allegedly made threats to kill an officer while in a local hospital has been jailed in Rome.

According to Floyd county Jail reports:

Aaron Anthony Watts, 19, of 17 Edgefield Drive, Silver Creek, was arrested on both felony terroristi­c threats and misdemeano­r simple battery charges after threatenin­g to kill an officer at Floyd Medical Center around 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 29.

Watts is said to have spit on two officers at the hospital and threatened to kill the officers.

Watts was charged with four counts of felony terroristi­c threats and two counts of simple battery.

Watts was being held in the Floyd County Jail on Friday night without bond.
