Trion falls to Mt. Pisgah in play-in game

The Trion Bulldogs couldn’t survive in a 49-42 loss to Mt. Pisgah in a Region 6A play-in game Friday night in Johns Creek.

The Bulldogs (7-3) were tied at 42 entering the final minute, but the Eagles scored a touchdown with 14 seconds left to put the game away.

Running back Logan Blevins recorded 24 carries for 178 yards and two touchdowns and reached the 1,000-yard rushing mark for the season. Jarrett Gil threw for 174 yards and three touchdowns, and he reached the 1,000-yard mark through the air.

With the regular season concluding, Trion heads to the Class-A Public state playoffs. The Bulldogs will find out who they play when the newest power rankings are released.

Cedartown 47, Chapel Hill 14

CEDARTOWN — The Cedartown Bulldogs finished their regular season big winners over Chapel Hill, cementing their second place spot in Region 5-4A and will host their first playoff game since the early 2000’s.

The 9-1 Bulldogs (5-1 5-4A) finished off the Panthers in a huge second half with their 47-14 win heading into the playoffs with a big second half after what head coach Doyle Kelley said could have been a better first half.

Cedartown held Chapel Hill to just 104 yard on the night as they went into negative yardage in the second half. Burton went 3 for 9 for 45 yards on passing before he was knocked out of the game in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury.

The Bulldogs put up 390 total yards of offense on the night, Wofford serving under center most of the game for the Bulldogs going 10 for 19 for 134 yards of offense.

He combined with Tony Mathis and a squad of other runners for an additional 256 yards on the night for the Bulldogs.

Cedartown now heads into the Class 4A playoffs as they host Pickens County following their loss to the Heritage Generals 49-21. They keep their spot since Southeast Whitfield fell to an undefeated Ridgeland Panthers 49-0 on the road.

Pepperell 38, Chattooga 7

The Pepperell football team locked up the No. 2 seed in Region 7-AA Friday night with a 38-7 win against Chattooga.

The Dragons (7-3, 6-1) will host Banks County next week, while the Indians (4-6, 4-3), who finished No. 4 in the region, will head to Rabun County.

Dade 28, Armuchee 14

The Armuchee football team held a 7-0 lead early against Dade County, but the Wolverines managed to take the lead and hold on for a 28-14 win.
