The Rome YMCA’s Arsenal Soccer Club Select teams wrapped up a first-place and four secondplace finishes last weekend as they battled to complete the regular season.
Arsenal teams compiled a 2-6-1 record to bring the club’s season record to 57-41-8.
The G14-D West team played to a 2-2 tie with third-place Inter Atlanta Premier on Saturday, giving Arsenal a 7-0-2 record and securing first place in the Athena D division with 39 points.
After falling behind 1-0, Arsenal’s Payton Brown knocked home a penalty kick to tie the contest before Joey Kunczewski staked Arsenal to a 2-1 lead late in the first half.
Inter Atlanta knotted the game up with a goal in the final seconds of the first half, and Arsenal couldn’t capitalize on any opportunities the rest of the match. Deyvis Reader recorded five saves in goal, while Tatum Ballinger had three.
