Regular season ends with 5 Arsenal teams finishing in the top 2

The Rome YMCA’s Arsenal Soccer Club Select teams wrapped up a first-place and four secondplac­e finishes last weekend as they battled to complete the regular season.

Arsenal teams compiled a 2-6-1 record to bring the club’s season record to 57-41-8.

The G14-D West team played to a 2-2 tie with third-place Inter Atlanta Premier on Saturday, giving Arsenal a 7-0-2 record and securing first place in the Athena D division with 39 points.

After falling behind 1-0, Arsenal’s Payton Brown knocked home a penalty kick to tie the contest before Joey Kunczewski staked Arsenal to a 2-1 lead late in the first half.

Inter Atlanta knotted the game up with a goal in the final seconds of the first half, and Arsenal couldn’t capitalize on any opportunit­ies the rest of the match. Deyvis Reader recorded five saves in goal, while Tatum Ballinger had three.

The B13-III West team lost the final two games of the season, bringing its record to 10-2 and securing second in its division. The team lost to Inter Atlanta 2-0 on Saturday and SAF Elite 1-0 on Sunday.
