The Rome-Floyd Recycling Center is hosting a free e-waste collection event on Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. All electronic­s waste including computers, printers and television­s will be accepted. Optimist Club will hold their 57th annual pancake breakfast on Saturday at the Rome Civic Center, 400 Civic Center Drive. Doors will open at 6 a.m. and close at noon. Proceeds will benefit the club’s youth programs. All-you-can-eat tickets are $7 each, and sausage is $5 per pound in advance. Tickets will cost

$8 at the door. A drivethrou­gh will be available for breakfast take-out.

The Georgia Master Gardener Extension Volunteer Training

Program applicatio­n deadline has been extended to Nov. 30. The program trains volunteers to provide current horticultu­ral informatio­n through community service and educationa­l gardening projects using applied research and the resources of the University of Georgia. Training classes will be held at the Floyd County Extension Office, 12 E. Fourth Ave., every Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Jan. 10, 2018 to March 16, 2018.
