After a high school career that has helped Coosa establish itself as one of the elite volleyball programs in the state, Taylor Roberts is glad to get to continue playing the sport she loves.

The 6-foot-1 middle blocker signed with Emmanuel College on Friday, officially setting her post-secondary choice less than three weeks after the Lady Eagles won the Class AA state championship.

“The Lord really placed this school on my heart, and it’s where I need to be,” Roberts said. “I couldn’t feel more blessed and honored to be playing there.”

The most decorated player in Coosa volleyball history, Roberts had completed her senior season with 566 kills, 174 blocks, 306 digs and 137 aces. She was named the

Area 3-AA Player of the Year, as well as the Georgia Volleyball Coaches’ Association Class AA Player of the Year, the first player from a public school to receive the honor.

“Taylor is one of those players that do not come around that often,” Coosa coach Nic Hann said. “She is a hard worker, an outstanding leader, an encourager, and she

has one of the best attitudes I have ever seen in an athlete. Her determination to get better every single point is the reason why she has had such a successful high school career.”

Emmanuel is a NCAA Division II school in Franklin Springs and plays in the Conference Carolinas.

“Their coaching staff is so amazing,” Roberts

said. “They’re so welcoming and accepting of everybody, and I’m really excited to start playing with them and getting to know them a lot better.”

Roberts recorded her 1,000th career kill this past season and set the Coosa single season records for kills and blocks. She wrapped up her high school career with 1,120 kills, and is fifth all-time in the state with 388 blocks.
