2nd charged in massive aluminum theft

A 38-year-old Plainville man is the second man charged with the theft of 28,000 pounds aluminum from his employer, Cycle Tex Inc., between May 1 and Nov. 2., reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Edward Wayne Williams, of 3610 Rome Road, is charged with felony theft by taking. Williams and Rafael Mascote-Lopez, 41, of South Sycamore Street, reportedly took the aluminum from the business at 906 E. Hermitage Road without the employer knowing. They then recycled the stolen materials to get money.

The warrant does not indicate how much money they received from recycling the aluminum or how they were able to take the materials.

Mascote-Lopez was released on $5,700 bond. As of Sunday night Williams was being held without bond.

Police: Man had pot packaged for sale

A Calhoun man remained in jail without bond on Sunday night after he was arrested on South Broad Street in possession of several baggies of marijuana and digital

scales, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Timothy Lamond Glynn, 32, of 145 Dakota Lane, is charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession with intent to sell marijuana. He is also charged with misdemeano­r possession of drug-related objects, willful obstructio­n of a firefighte­r and has two warrants for contempt of superior court regarding a child support violation.

He is being held without bond and has a hold from Gordon County.

Police found three bags of marijuana along with a pipe and digital scales after pulling over Glynn around 3:44 p.m. Saturday.

Rome felon charged with gun possession

A Rome man was arrested early Sunday with a .40 caliber pistol after being stopped near the intersecti­on of North Broad Street and Superba Avenue, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Laron Lawade Gibson, 29 of 9 Copeland St., is charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and misdemeano­r possession and carrying a concealed weapon without a license.

Gibson was a passenger in a car police pulled over for not using headlights at around 2 a.m. They could smell a strong odor of marijuana and Gibson was reaching in his pockets, so he was removed from the vehicle to be searched. Officers found the pistol in his waistband.

He remained in jail without bond Sunday evening.

Woman charged with cocaine possession

Police arrested a 37-year-old Rome woman near the Royal Inn at 1201 Martha Berry Blvd. early Sunday after police found a clear plastic bag of crack cocaine in her backpack, reports stated.

According to Floyd County Jail reports:

Yolanda Lynn Peace, 37, of 13 Elizabeth St., is charged with felony possession of cocaine. She remained in jail Sunday night without bond.
